It is pretty annoying if you go to a gym with not of a lot of bench's and squat racks. Basically you get 1 or even 2 guys in a space doing a powerlifting workout and they spend 1-2 hours in the same spot doing their lifts. Since I work 12hr shifts that leaves me a small amount of time to get things done. I have about a 10hr window each day to fit in eating, sleeping, driving to gym then back home, showering and lifting.
As far as working in with them I don't bother with lifting heavy anymore so we'd need to be stripping weights and replacing weights constantly. I typically like to do super sets, pyramids, drop sets, etc.
A lot of times I end up doing an entire workout and never making it to the squat rack or bench press due to a few guys doing some long azz workout there. The only positive of the situation is I learned three things. 1. Squats and bench presses aren't really necessary to make gains. 2. You can maintain strength levels on those lifts without doing them for weeks/months at a time. 3. For the most part you can get a far more effective workout in for hypertrophy if you don't bother with squats, bench pressing, or dead lifts.

I am definitely not saying this for all powerlifters, but for most and especially the ones following the trend, it is like a poor man's bodybuilding. They dont have what it takes to actually be a bodybuilder/lift for aesthetics and what goes through their head is "I can go to the gym and bs with my friends, eat what I want, do a few heavy reps over and over and make loud noises and look like a beast deadlifting 500lbs for 2 reps and be admired in the gym and only have to go to the gym 3 days a week and not do cardio"
They show up in their lifting belts, wrist wraps, knee sleeves and slingshots lifting ****ing weight I lift as a classic physique bodybuilder with just my normal gym clothes and no added bull****. It makes me laugh out loud literally a lot in the gym. I see a guy yelling doing a few reps of 315 or 365 on the bench and then I sit there and do it for 10 controlled reps without making a noise. Makes me wonder why they even call themselves a powerlifter when they really arent even that much stronger than an avid lifter after a few years. I was cringing so bad a couple months ago when this guy was crying on ******** about how he only got 1200-1300lbs and failed on a 515 deadlift and everyone was telling him how awesome he did. I fail to see how a ****ing 515 deadlift in a suit with wraps is at all remotely impressive for a lift at a ****ing powerlifting meet.

Lol I just came back from a community centre gym squat session. Wearing weightlifting shoes, knee sleeves and a belt. And I took about 50 minutes in the rack.
Then again, I squat high bar, full depth. I'm not in atrocious shape (for a natty of course), and it's 6:30 am so there aren't any other people looking to use the rack (there are two racks anyway). Plus, I've been off-and-on doing powerlifting routines/workouts since I was in university (10 years ago)... And I'm quiet and don't make a show of anything.
Though, I agree it can be annoying as fuk. Occasionally high schoolers wearing "Do you even lift bro?" singlets will come in and do half squats, take 7-8 minutes off between sets and wrap and unwrap their fukin knees every set (when they max at ~225 for half squats).

Tbh I don't really see too many PL's at my gym, and I go to like 4 different locations around town.
Furthermore, I am really not concerned with what other peeps are doing unless it is uncalled for and poses an impediment to my workout.

You all pay the same membership fees and all have the same right to the equipment. If you don't like someone using it - stay the phuck home in your personal gym.

We got this trend of kids doing 1 rep dead lift sets with 300 lbs, dropping the bar bell at full extension so as to let everyone know just how heavy they went.... and of course leaving the bar bell loaded in the middle of the floor when they are done 30 minutes later with their 4 sets of one rep.

Still, I've learned the hard way to leave one in the tank, and also to make sure that you really have the bar on the lower legs before letting go.

amazing how on a bbforum we can't chirp powerlifters without a bunch of butthurt *******s.
Yet on powerlifting forums, they can and do say anything negative they can about bodybuilders and their mods are cool with it too and no one even cares. Powerlifters are like the feminists of the lifting community in a way.

funny enough this describes me to a T, but just lol if you think the only ego lifters are powerlifters. And that they're fat.
They're are some mirin' powerlifters with leaner physiques than most 'bodybuilders in a commercial gym'.
And the most ego lifts I see are from bodybuilders true story, powerlifters I see are usually doing working sets of 70-80% of their max.
But I only lift at 24 hour fitness so I dunno might be different elsewhere.
I just choose to powerlift because it's the **** and just lol at natty bodybuilding.

I go off of years and years of experience and being in both the bodybuilding and powerlifting world. I also personally know many a power lifter who went back to powerlifting after bodybuilding and openly admit its because bodybuilding was tougher and more demanding with the diet and insane hours spent in the gym. I also have met many bodybuilders who said they decided to do bodybuilding as a step up from powerlifting and stuck with bodybuilding because it was more of a challenge.
Power lifting is far more about genetics, overall years spent in the gym, and having a good routine. It doesn't require you to spend 3 hours a day in the gym 6 days a week going massive amounts of reps and fluctuating between 60lbs and over 10% BF changes
I honestly have yet to meet one person who has done both powerlifting and bodybuilding who sayd powerlifting is either tougher, more challenging, or takes a stronger more determined person.
