You do not need guns to have a revolution.

Think Ghandi, Lech Wałęsa, Arab Spring etc.

Fuk Benjamin Franklin.
You don't need guns to start a worldwide war either.

Also study the founding fathers of the United States, and why they understood how critical it is to maintain an armed populace. If you really do value safety over freedom then you are a cuck.

a little temporary safety? 35 people killed by guns in the UK vs 10000+ in the US, more if you include suicides and accidents. That adds up to alot human lives over the years. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands who are injured and permanently maimed and who will require a lifetime of treatment and care. The social and economical costs are enormeous.

You dont seem to understand that the rule of law originated in the UK with the Magna Carta. It is a European concept, that you yanks brought with you over the atlantic and tried to improve upon by giving ordinary people guns. In a time of single shot muskets and not such a wide descrepancy between government force and ordinary citizens it may even have had some merit to it in a young republic.

But holy LOL at tranferring that concept and continuing that argument in an age where your government has the largest destructive arsenal ever devised at its command. Brb AR-15 vs tactical nukes and B2 stealth bombers, yeah thats gonna work out splendidly. I understand that you yanks have a different conception of "freedom". But common sense gun regulation does not equal a return to Pol Pot's Cambodia.

lol at comparing two different countries stats with completely different social structures and history. You're also missing the point comparing AR-15s to nukes, but that doesn't surprise me.

And lets hear that "common sense" legislation. I'm all ears.

Social structure and history is one thing, but no matter how you spin it the difference is overwhelming and statistically significant. The UK has 60 million people and a very high population density, alot of religion of peace adherents as well.

About the nukes, that was hyperbole but the point still stands, in a scenario where your government became totalitarian and you would have to fight against the state, you would be met with an overwhelming military-technological/logistical superiority. If a state apparatus is united it is almost impossible to bring it down in the modern era. So this begs the question, what kind of weapons should or should not be allowed? Considering a conflict with the US government, AT-guns/TOW missiles, AA-guns, artillery etc would be needed, so should these weapons be made available for the ordinary citizen?

As for legislation, a starting point would be to prevent people like the Virgina tech shooter from being able to LEGALLY aquire a weapon. Better psychological screening, closing the gun show loophole etc.

Mechanism of action is irrelevant. The US has a murder rate about 5x that of the UK, all weapons included, not 300 times the rate (as you've suggested).

So yes, it is a little temporary safety.
When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.
