This thread legit hurts my heart. When I was in my mid-20s, I was neck-deep in incel/mgtow/******* culture. I felt like I was going down the path of the supreme gentleman: Confused and angry about why my life in adulthood hadn't turned out the way I had envisioned it as a teenager. I've made enough threads about self-improvement, discipline, and resolve, so I'm going to hold off on that here. Some other points though:

1) All of these young men posting on that incel rate-me reddit webpage are stuck in a negative feedback loop. Their feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness are validated by the online communities they spend their days posting on. In short, they're being told over and over again "Don't try. Give up. Failure is the only outcome if you venture beyond the incel lifestyle."

In reality, failure is a natural and necessary step towards making any kind of progress. There's countless books and youtube videos on how to make the most of failure as merely the first step towards eventual success.

2) Telling these guys that they merely need to improve their appearance underscores the key ingredient to change - The Desire to Be Better. This has to come first, then the beard/shave/clothing/gym. And with it comes the Desire to Be Better's first two offshoots: A plan, and discipline.

It's actually shocking how many more people would be successful at achieving their goals if they'd simply put pen to paper and straight-up make a plan on how to get there. If any of the 3 guys in the oft-copied photos in this thread simply identified what they want, what they don't like, and drew up a step-by-step process to get to their end goal, then they'd go from lowest-tier to most-improved in a heartbeat. Anyone would.

3) I'm not a fan of the old pick-up artist culture. It's literally 99% fakery, selective-video-editing, and more or less just a straight-up con. But there was one lesson that always stuck with me: The 3% rule.

was me about a decade ago. (Or just like me) I was quickly losing all of my hair, was skinny-fat but moving towards gaining weight (all men in my family are overweight), and was the full-on poster child for adding "-cel" suffix to any number of things (incel, losercel, solitarycel, etc).

At one point I decided that I completely hated the life that I had, and that it was drastically different from any kind of future I had imagined for myself as a child or teen. So I put together a plan and strengthened my discipline mindset. I wanted to be a part of that 3%. If I can do it, anyone can do it. But the desire has to be there.
