Most of the events described are by anonymous Chinese witnesses, with a few woman named and interviewed. They don't make sense either. If the Japanese were all purposely raping random people, why did the army need comfort woman that they employed through entrapment? It seems more likely that only a group of the army was doing the torturing, hence the evidence such as stakes not being widespread but in small areas.

I see your argument. But here's also something to consider, witnesses can be terrible when it comes to recollection of information. As with the Vietnam war, if you asked the south Vietnamese what was happening, they'd tell that the Chinese are evil and taking over the land. But the reality is that China never tried to take over the land. They wanted unification of the government in order to create a seamless powerful and efficient government. The people of south Vietnam never understood that and they caved to herd mentality.

It is most definitely in the interests of the winners to make the losers out to be pure evil.It will also feel much better to drop nuclear warheads on a people if those people can be made out to be monsters raping young children and committing all sorts of atrocities.

Not saying evil wasn't being committed at Nanjing but I am sure a lot of it is overplayed just like it is with all wars.History is written by the victors always and the losing side must always be on the dark side and winner on the side of righteousness.

A more pertinent question for me is this : Will we repeat the excesses of the past century in this century?Or do you guys think we have learnt from the events of the past and wont repeat it?

The US bombed Japan is evil, but no one forced Japan to kill so many Chinese, it's evil too, no excuse can cover that kind of behavior. Idk I guess I always just assumed it didn’t happen because all the elders here say it didn’t. That said a quick google search shows that the understanding of biological warfare or illness transmission in general, wasn’t anywhere close to advanced enough for that have happened.

First was the resentment of Northern Vietnamese leaders to Chinese leader specifically to Zhou EnLai that forced the division of South Vietnam vs North Vietnam in 1954 after Vietminh won battle at Dienbienphu

As a Chinese man, I don't expect current day Japanese to apologize for the atrocities that occurred. It's asinine, and anyone who does is stuck in the past and not thinking rationally. It's a nice gesture, but not expected.

Yeah everyone who is not Chinese start to think they can be the spokesperson of Chinese now. Even they are British, Italian or Chinese who spend most of their life in America. I don't even like Chinese especially being a Taiwanese who are suppressed by these stupid people for a long time. But Nanjing Massacre is a cruel event should not be ignored in this kind of easy way.

Well... you should start by looking up what small pox actually is. Then look up small pox incubation periods on non living surfaces. Then lastly look up reliable sources that say the small pox blanket plan was carried out as well any any sort of effectiveness it may have had, Godspeed.
