if you have a helmet you like now and are looking for one specifically for the Ironman, then get the Aerohead and use it only for tri's and TTs or whatever.
If you're looking for a new helmet, then I'd go with the Vanquish all the way.

edit - and the Vanquish absolutely looks badass

i just realized i am gonna miss cycling in winter..today was a colder day and streets and bike lanes were empty for miles. last week when it was springy, barely had space to move.

or maybe i ll just have to finally start cycling out of city...ordered a box of choc granola bars, tub of gatorade powder so i can start fueling on the move and do longer distances...after 100 mins i start to feel drained out and speed drops

I will say, if you can get a bike like the Fuji Roubaix Elite I posted, a full Sram Force 22 groupset, quark power meter ready cranks, 1290g Oval Concepts wheels, and end up with a 15lb bike for $2200, thats a win. And you can always replace the frame later if you want, while taking advantage of the savings of getting a complete bike initially.

My dad has that aforementioned Fuji Roubaix and it's great. He runs 28mm conti's at a lower pressure (more like 30mm actually mounted) front and rear, lizard skin tape and gel pads on his bars. It is smooth as silk. It feels the same as my carbons bars/stem and my Enve wheels. I suppose i'm not as perceptive or in tune with my bikes as some of you judging by your comments. When I hop off my carbon setup and ride my dads, the only thing thats different is using his Sram shifters vs my dura ace.

I've always been intrigued by the bikes with an internal geared hub, but I've never owned one. There's one for sale near me for what seems like a very reasonable price ($500) but the bike does have some age on it. I know that it's an unusual bike for this thread, but what do you guys think: the good AND the bad? FWIW, I always ride alone and always on streets with several steep and long hills. Not true dude. CAAD gets amazing reviews and many prefer to carbon. CAAD also has a carbon fork and a carbon seatpost. Don't even compare CAAD to our cheap Escape hybrid frames.

It weighs 17 lbs compared to our 26+ lb Escapes. I put Deore v-brakes on mine so yours is probably even heavier than mine if you have disc brakes.

Also concerning your exhaustion comment, both carbon and aluminum crack. Only steel bends.

1. yes and no; aluminum bend yes but the fatigue point for carbon is higher.

2. yeah for 2k i would look into carbon myself

i am not comparing expensive road bikes to entry level aluminium frames.

i meant after $2000 price point..you are better off looking into benefits of carbon frame rather than a premium aluminum which can be easily had for around $1500.....even a trek Emonda carbon frame can be had for around $2000 & Giant Defy carbon frame starts from $1650....if you have been riding for few years, i personally feel lower weight per price point and fundamental 'vibration absorbing' nature of carbon fiber will be more valuable to a rider.

This was no attack on CAAD btw, it was a general statement on choice of material and spending your money appropriately...and like i said..i could be wrong..i am speaking from paper knowledge...not first hand experience.

to give you an analogy...its like comparing super high speed DSL internet connection to fiber internet...even at same monthly price point..a fiber internet will just offer better experience due to its nature

If so, this alone is enough to make me never buy a Giant product ever again. I saw Giant even makes it absolutely impossible to contact them in any way shape or form. I think this is my first and last Giant bike.

Sucks because other than the 50 cent plastic disc and the inability to contact the company it's an awesome bike.

I noticed new mtb's have a single tiny gear on the front crank, WTF is up with this nonsense? I'm ALWAYS on the biggest ring on the front, and that new bikes only have one small one is mind boggling, can you even go 10mph with such a tiny front gear?

I specifically bought my bike because it has a HUGE front large gear (largest I've ever seen) and a tiny rear small gear (smallest I've ever seen), allowing me very high gear ratios which I like (I like pedaling very slowly but with tremendous force).

Do they not still make bikes with very high gear ratios like mine? I NEED my high gear ratios and this has me worried about my next bike, there is no way I'm buying a bike with a single small gear in the front, I'll go from the fastest to the slowest cyclist instantly with such absurd gear ratios.

Well Bros. My super six took a **** today. Need a new bike.

Just ordered the diamondback podium etape for $1345 on the dback website.

Hydraulic disc .full carbon . 105 but who cares. I figure. For the amount saved I'm sure I can get a nice set of wheels to.make.up.for it. My buddy had one said any tires bigger than 23c won't clear the chain stays. Well see !

Does the Zipp bar support the routing or do you need to drill a hole for wiring the junction box?

speaking of CEO..anyone owns portable digital tire pumps?

they run on lithium ion batteries and fill up 8 tires..pressure goes all the way upto 150 psi..you set the pressure and it automatically fills upto that....one of my pet peeves is front and rear tire pressure imbalance this could offer precise pressure.

thinking of buying one as they cost nearly as much as a floor pump which i find outdated grandfather device...cycling needs LOT MORE TECH

I've probably spent the least.

Thought about buying a nicer bike for this season but im going to hold out for another year. So far I've only spent $30 this year on a busted spoke and wheel truing, lol. Hoping to break 2000 cycling miles for this year on my beater bike, at 600 right now. Got my eye on the Specialized Allez Sprint Comp for next year, cant wait!!

it is all good, u don't have to spend a ton to have a nice cycling experience. I have some OLD friends KILLING it on their old rides. Zhit last race there was a dude on a old steal bike riding pretty good up the hills.

btw: 2,397 miles so far this year; I am trying to break 10k miles for the first time.

10k miles? How do you find the time, jesus. I go pretty much every other day on 30-40 mile rides, weather permitting and i am not even close to your numbers. Damn son.

Ahh i see. I personally dont enjoy indoor riding, too boring.
