Yeah I really like my Spark Mini. Although I wish it didn't take so long to charge up.

You'd delete the entire main misc if you deleted 20 posts from one page itt…

You didn't rekt anyone - you just spewed the same racist nonsense you always do.

And you don't get to claim people are following you around when you post the same racist crap in every thread on the first page.

Lol surrrrre I didn't rape you. Suuuurrre that's not the reason why you've suddenly been following me in threads today and all of a sudden showing up in the guitar sticky thread which you never post in regularly responding to a post by Dom that's directed at me hahahaha.

L o l you are exceptionally low-IQ.

And again, you should really take your whining to a main misc thread instead of in the guitar stickied thread, these posts will just get deleted lol.

Lmfao at spamming racist crap in every thread and then claiming anyone is following you around. Amazing ego you have there.. and if you're so concerned about this thread then stop posting off topic.

Yeah… you said that. Again. There's a pattern. Especially when you have no argument.

It's a bit pathetic you spam racist chit all over the forum and then run back here to kiss Dom's ass hoping he won't ban you. Maybe he'll just delete another 20 of your posts instead..

I've seen the Spark, does it sound good? I have the Boss Waza Air wireless headphones which is like an amp in a headphone and allows bluetooth connections to play backing tracks to play along with etc.

Is the Spark mini the profiler that you can control via an app? I was watching a YT video of a guy doing a "Will it Chug" demo and he was getting some real nice tones from that thing, everything from classic JCM to Pantera-esque Washburn/Diezel style crunch.

Last time I played smartphones hadn't even been invented yet. I'd have never dreamed one day our phones would be linked in to our guitar setups.

To gauge these statements:

How many years has it been since you played?

Where did you leave off?

Picking:
a) Gilbert
b) Schmoe

Tapping:
a) Steve Lynch
b) Schmoe

Sweeping:
a) Gambale
b) Schmoe

Legato:
a) Schmoe
b) Mars

Hair:
a) Nuno
b) Schmoe

In any case, you need to stop fkn around - just spend $200 for something on Reverb and hook it up to your computer for $30. No excuse to not have a guitar.

Hmm, let's see.

Picking? Somewhere in between Gilbert and Schmoe.

Tapping? Somewhere in between again, although I don't think Lynch was the best tapper. At the peak of my tapping skills I was a bit past EVH and trying some eight finger stuff like Night Ranger, but I never worked it coherent into any song. TJ Helmerich is a better tapper than Lynch, or even this random 80s guy from stereotype island:

Sweeping? Nowhere near Gambale, nor Malmsteen or Becker. Probably Alexi Laiho level.

Legato? Mars doesn't get my vote for best legato. Holdsworth wins by a country mile. My legato was probably below George Lynch.

Hair? I did the death metal hair but only got it to shoulder length before it annoyed the chit out of me and I cut it.
Back off, Warchild.

Apologies Z4, I got Steve Lynch and Steve Stevens mixed up. I vaguely remembered Lynch and just YT'ed him. Yeah, the dude can tap.

Nice dude, too. You can tell from the REH video that he wanted budding guitarists to really learn his techniques, but Yngwie, by contrast, was a bitch who wanted to keep his techniques to himself.

That questionnaire was meant to be answered in a/b format with no commentary - choose the closest person. None were intended to be seen as best/worst, but clearly person (a) is always the more skilled player in each category.

Steve Lynch looks like an inbred ape going through alcohol withdrawal when he taps, which is unfortunate for him, but he gets the job done and doesn't use any string dampening devices like the guy you posted earlier. Certainly TJ's phrasing, finesse, and vocabulary is more pleasing to me, and he improvises rather than composes solos and he doesn't use dampers either.

I don't think Wingnut tries to keep techniques to himself; he just doesn't have a clue how to teach. Watch the interview with Beato when he asked him a picking technique question. But he definitely has chilled out A LOT since he released his solo record.

He was no Stanley Jordan but I reckon Joe's tapping pieces for their time were interesting. Obviously to the Fractal+Youtube+ADHD generation with zero identity who are spoonfed everything it all seems pedestrian but back then they'd have been ordinary like everyone who wasn't naturally gifted and putting in 5 hours plus a day.

…which flowed into one of the best instrumental rock guitar tracks in my book.

I spent many years playing like Joe and the hairline's holding up so that's a no from me dawg.

I know you guys like to dump on him but to have a career doing what you enjoy for nearly 40 years is very impressive not to mention those albums from 1986-1993 + 1998. Not of this Earth, Surfing with the Alien, Flying in a Blue Dream, The Extremist, Time Machine, and Crystal Planet.

Just my 2 cents which no one asked for but I reckon if more guitarists listened to Joe and focused on the fundamentals of bending, vibrato, phrasing, and composition, they'd be better for it.

I get it, his 3nps legato was a poor imitation of Holdsworth and his alternate picking is garbage next to Paul Gilbert, but there's so much he did well. He was also a great guitar teacher and from everything I've seen a nice guy too. You focus on his technical shortcomings and the bald dome with sunglasses. I'm old enough to remember when Satriani had hair.

I love Dom’s dedication to defending poor Schmoe from our constant accusations concerning his abilities.

Now that I’m working hard on legato I at least acknowledge that the Schmoe had a nice legato technique, far beyond my own currently, even if his note choices are like eating two slices of wonderbread with nothing in between.

If I don't, who will? Joe needs a bodyguard.

Follow up to your Baldriani question. Yes I was around when Surfing with the Alien came out but the Reaper and Father Time haven't won yet. Training harder than I did in my 20s.

Spoiler!
