This was taken in Leith, actually. We stayed there, then traveled into the city when we wanted.

I'm sure you're used to how Edinburgh looks, but I love the scenery there. When we went, all the restaurants/bars had just closed, but my gf and I had a ton of fun just walking throughout the city. Cannot wait to go back and explore the northern area of the country. We were meant to roadtrip to Isle of Skye, but all the restrictions had been put into effect so kinda lost out on that.

duuue what shutter speed that at, 1/4000 or 8000? gotta be on a 2.8 or faster to be able to get that definition without a chit ton of iso ruining things

Damn that 2.8 is very nice. I have the Sigma 150-600 5-6.3 so I couldn't justify that lens right now.

But thanks bro, It was actually at 1/2500 ISO 800 with an old 55-250mm which I've since sold. Wasnt a very impressive lens compared to whats out now. That pic is about 3 years old now

AFAIK, nobody has a 600mm f2.8. f4 is the widest.

I sprung $14k for the newest RF version. that weight difference is insane. hope to get some good shots this week. also grabbed a 300mm f2.8 for walking around in close quarters in the woods

solid airline shot. I guess it's a pretty big subsection of photography - watching planes landing and taking off.

the Canon 200mm - 400mm f4 with 1.4x extender is like the god lens for that setup

can confirm. is big around these parts. people do this chit all the time. am 20mins from a commercial airport and about 1hr from DIA and a large AF base

might have to look in to the 200-400 tho

edit - so basically pop an extender on a 70-200 2.8, making it a 98-280 f/4. hnnnnng.

I will post a few of mine soon. All of mine are watermarked, so I’ll have to remove my signature. I have a few award winning photos. I do mostly macro and some wildlife and equine/rodeo.

Shoot with a Sony a7rIII and Sony 90mm macro lens. Had a 70-200mm 2.8, but traded it for a 100-400mm, which I kinda regret sometimes. The 70-200mm was so beautiful. I took first place with one photo in all of the local competitions, as well as a few online conceptions.

I don’t shoot too much these days becuse most of my mornings are spent working our farm now. I’ll edit the photos and get them posted up.

Edit; here is one I had edited for a comp without watermark. This is one I took first with and was published.

The 200-400 is a totally different beast. It's like an 8.5lb lens that goes for between $6k - $12k from what I've seen.

but yeah you can take the EF 70-200mm and add extenders. I have the newest RF 70-200mm and since it's external zoom, it won't take extenders I'm gonna sell it and pick up an older version

BTS as in showing my set up for a shot? Not really. Insects move so much that I would need a second person shooting while I’m shooting. I mostly shoot alone when doing macro.

Here is an equine shot I got a few years ago. I’ll try to dig up some wildlife stuff, but keep in mind, it’s not my speciality like equine (do this professionally from time to time) and macro. This shot got me a lot of local business after winning a local ranch and rodeo contest and started doing some professional work. Not a lot of equine shooters out there, so the work came fast.

Shot with the Sony 70-200 f2.8

gotcha. is your macro work done in the wild? or in studio?

from the pics provided, I was mainly interested in how you got the absolute black background on the snake.

beautiful horse picture! it's always impressive what those little 70-200 f2.8 zooms can do

Most are done in the field. The black background comes from my flash and low ******t lighting with smaller aperture. The light from the flash falls off if it doesn’t hit anything, creating the black background. Believe it or not, the window was to the right of snake. I normally like having smooth and colorful backgrounds, but every now and then it either can’t be helped or I like to give it a dramatic affect.

I caught the brown snake and was holding it in my little photo room because I wanted the black background. The bush I found him in created a noisy background and wouldn’t have made a good photo. I let a little ******t light through a window to get more dimension to the subject on top of the DIY diffuser I use. I’ll try to get some photos of my set up.

I should have some time tonight to pull the watermark from some of my other top photos and a couple wildlife shots. I’ll post them up.

Thanks for the compliments!

Tuned in! I looooveee wildlife shots and I'm sure yours will be exceptional.

I think I finally got my kit of ideal lenses (for now)

Canon R5
RF 15-35 F2.8 (landscapes and astro)
EF 300mm F2.8 MK I
RF 600mm F4
RF 800mm F11
1.4x TC, 2x TC
Gitzo tripod and Wimberly head (thinking about buying a manfrotto fluid head though)

now I just need some time to get out and take actual pictures.

It gets dark at 6pm here and I usually get out of work at 5pm, so I hardly have time to drive anywhere.

Here are some of the bucks at my local park that I've taken recently

most of these are 6400 or 12800 ISO, as well as 1/100 shutter or slower. all handheld with the RF 100-500 except the last pic which is the EF 300mm

Dang, that's quite a set up! Im mirin!

A lot of wildlife photographers have spots they find that gives them the best backgrounds, subjects, and lighting. They will visit those spots over and over again to get the perfect shot. For deer, make sure there aren't any trees distracting from their antlers. Otherwise, those are nice shots.

Few more, with a few wildlife shots. I seem to have lost several wildlife shot RAWs. I think they must have either gotten deleted or corrupt. The processed copies are all signed so unfortunately I don't want to post them. Would prefer my name not be all over the board.

This muscovy duck took off right in front of me. Odd photo, but it's kinda cool.

love the spider shot! you're tempting me to get a macro lens…

tested the new 600mm out today and it did not disappoint!

I wasn't planning on shooting today but I got a tip that one of, if not the first Snowy Owl of the year was seen in lower Michigan today. I jumped out the door and drove 1 hour each way to see it. It was quite dark when I got there, so I was impressed with how the camera and lens performed handheld, in low light.
