Oh yes, he's protecting himself from the government who will storm his house. You are trying to violate his second amendment rights.

There no way he's the black dude in the pic. He's probably some white Confederate flag waving hermit who lives in the mountains. I know everyone in California knows who I'm taking about.

The argument that you're making is essentially that if we can't stop gun violence completely, we shouldn't even bother trying to do anything to lessen their frequency, or the damage that can be done when they do happen.
See, i think you are using a false dichotomy or parroting something you thought was a good idea. Your rights cannot be marginalized as a risk management assessment. A military can do that in war, but not to citizens (legitimately). Those are two (should be) two separate scenarios with entirely two separate objectives/goals. The goal of government is to bring order by recognizing what that order ought to be (objectively). The most basic ingredients it must respect are: life, liberty, property. Government must respect this or null the social contract (the reason to have) government. Granted to regulate 'make regular', gets to define these terms in more particular, granule elements, but it more justly should sit closer to the people and not further (federal/national legislation).

The biggest aggressor to fundamental rights is from government and not your fellow citizen. it may not even be from a national level government, but may be a city, county or state. Self preservation encompasses not just a bad dude with a crowbar, but a lawless agent of the govt who may try to do impress his will worse upon you.

And what you said earlier about judging ruling on the second amendment, in different ways over the eons. well there's a basic reason as to why that is: activist judges. The judicial branch is pretty off its gord. People look to it to now to essentially legislate law and no one calls them out on it (who can).

You kind of have a point, but you are also falling short on something else. Obviously symmetrical warfare would be pretty dumb for citizens to commit to in some kind of uprising. This is why asymmetrical warfare, with an armed population, is particularly scary to bureaucrats. Furthermore, there's a political push you have when armed citizens group up: it would be political suicide to kill that many citizens from a main party. BAD. Especially when they are not violent.

At this point gun onwership is less about government tyranny and more about lining the pockets of the NRA and their politicians

They use the second amendment as a tool to rile up gun toting americans.

What people fail to realize its called an “amendment” that is the keyword. Its time for that amendement to be amended. Dont take the right away however it does need to be modified,

If america and the world adapts on everything else there is no reason it cant adapt for something like this.

This isnt the year 1799 anymore things have changed, the world has changed its time the constitution changes with it

I don't mind owning firearms for self defence but the amount of weaponry and ammunition I've see people own seems more like a hobby than it is self defence.

There are any number of self defense scenarios where an AR15 is effective.
Rights are laws and laws can be changed. Natural rights (which are supposed to be universal and inalienable) do not exist.
Right now you have a legal right to have guns, but if that right was removed from the law, then can you demonstrate how it would still exist in any meaningful sense?

You're right it has changed. It's worse. Once again, banning guns won't solve anything. It's a solution that only works in countries that already have low circulation. Banning guns in the US just makes citizens weaker. How about reopening all the mental facilities they keep closing down? The whole "It's time for a change" sentiment is childish and narrow-minded. You have to look at the bigger picture.

LOL at banning guns. People still have other weapons. The only way to fix this is to get these people help. But america doesn't seem to care about the incel problem.

It is called an inalienable right from birth given by God. "Shall not be infringed" means no amending. The second amendment doesnt give us a right, it declares that right to exist with or without government, and states that government cannot legally or rightfully restrict or place limitations upon it. They already have, so at this point we have to accept that we are no longer bound by the rule of law, but rather oppressive tyranny enforced by the threat of violence.

A poster somewhere else summed up this whole shooting biz succinctly:

"Curious how the media only wants to discuss violence when it happens in white America. When Sweden is a warzone and rape central it's not appropriate to discuss it openly. When there's a terrorist attack every week in europe last year, it's just "part of parcel of living in a big city". When there's daily mass killings in black America, it's due to socio-economic factors. Whenever there's a school shooting, oooh let's attack "white culture", the 2nd amendment, get some grieving kids on TV begging for far-left government policies. It's so predictable and transparent what they are doing.

Ultimately until parents grow some balls and pull their kids out of ****hole state schools nothing will change. But it's easier to send your sprogs to a **** school and forget about them than it is to organise private tuition with other parents and set up an armed free school with student vetting."

Lol this right is nowhere in the Bible. This was made up by the founding fathers so no on can argue against it. Using God in there would ensure people dont argue against it,

The constitution is archaic and was made for the times in 1776. This is now 2018. Parts of it are outdated and need to be revisited including the second amendment

More delusion. You are saying if gun ownership was in the bible (a document written by a group of men) rather than the constitution (a document written by a group of men) that would make it inarguable? And then you say the constitution is archaic? The bible is ancient!

You fairyland kunts need to wake the hell up, gun ownership aside. If you still believe this chit to the point you think that a debate can be won by saying "muh bible" you need to stop giving your opinion on real life and stick to giving your opinions on make believe (somewhere else).

Since you can't reason with delusion, I'm just going to ask those of you who actually believe that guns were a right that was given to y'all by God the following:

When did God come down and give you this right?

What if someone doesn't believe in God? Do they still have this "right", or does it become invalid?

Why does God even care about guns?

Would God really want children getting massacred with the "rights" that he handed down to you?

Why are you still trying to use this as a valid argument?

You'd think it was a redneck from 50-60 years ago saying that, but nope... it's the 21st century and there are nutcases like that around.

Pretty sad, really. You just KNOW there are many more school shootings going to happen in the foreseeable future

Since when does restricting guns and increasing background checks (which should involve family members) = banning guns? Why wouldn't you want it to be universally more difficult for mentally ill or clearly troubled people to obtain any kind of firearm? If you're of sound mind and not a fukking retard, it won't even affect you.

You retards see red straight away and start screaming MAH 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS because let's be honest, you nerds were probably bullied too and like the feeling of power owning a gun gives you. No pragmatic response, purely emotional.

Hard to say, since guns are widespread in many European countries. Why does the Czech Republic have 1/2 the homicide rate of the UK? Why don't we hear about any school shootings there?

Would God really want children getting massacred with the "rights" that he handed down to you?

I don't believe in God.

The right to self-defense is a natural right, no God required.

The only reason for gun control is to control your citizens. Fortunately, our country was founded by individuals wary of a government turned against its people.
