fooking epic! the music, choreography and planet... HNGGGHhh rey and kylo move like snails/sloth compared to these guys. You can tell the actors for the new star wars don't work out or train sword fighting like hayden and gregor did. The actor that plays rey probably didn't lift no weights or do cardio at all, that's why all the fights she does is off que and slow.
Sad that we didn't get any new epic light saber battles, everyone watches the new fights to say how bull sht and slow it is and how rey should have lost each duel with how she was fighting. They did the rey character no service in light saber dueling ... my best guess is the actor refused to get fit for the role to perform, cause I have seen many females be able to do perform in combat choregraphy. Throne room scene is a clear indication that rey just physically did not train or commit to the role. Missing que's that they just edit things out rather than re shoot cause she can't keep up. Pulled a brie larson.

In my head none of these new films are the true story anyway since Lucas sold out and his treatments were canned. So we will never really get the final trilogy as intended. What a complete letdown for such a massive, global franchise.
Lol at Disney taking a massive dump on Star Wars.

I paid my $35 and 2.5 hours of my time - I sure as hell want to enjoy myself. So I lowered by expectations, turned my brain down... and I enjoyed it. The plot was predictable but fun, there weren't any major new characters introduced, and you can bet I was anticipating the 'binary sunset' theme to play at the end and it was kinda emotional because I loved that music as a kid.
I got my money's worth. But truthfully it sucked
The big problem is Obnoxious film making. They can barely have 30 secs of (chitty) dialogue before music starts playing - as if to tell you that the scene is about to end because they just know you can't concentrate for any longer. And god forbid we have any extended dialogue that reveals back story or character development. Nah just have characters talking over each other and make sure they explain the plot before anything else.
Rey calling herself a Skywalker just doesn't sit well. Her parents are rightly depicted as noble and loving - they never give her up and get murdered for it - and Rey says as much. So why not find out more about her parents? Yes she is related to Palpatine (LMAO that came out of nowhere) but by taking on a different name she is casting them aside. Leia apparently saw good in her despite her ancestry so isn't this partly due to her parents and early upbringing? It also rubs against the advice to 'not be afraid of who you are'

But it's definitely still a good film and gave some hope that future Star Wars films won't all be complete disasters like The Last Jedi.Never been so confused in my life, I genuinely don’t know if I watched the same film as most people in here.
It was amazingly good, like, probably the best Star Wars out of the entire 6 more recent ones. Didn’t see a single flaw in the entire film, and was very very good from start to finish. And trust me, I have stupidly high standards for films. And I didn’t think the previous 2 Disney films were very good, it felt like they were fillers leading up to this one.

I went into this movie expecting to hate it. I didn't hate it, which is a win for me at this point. It has issues, absolutely. If this were any movie but Star Wars Episode IX, I would make fun of it for all of its flaws. But considering The Rise of Skywalker had to not only tell a story, but also had to fix the mistakes of the previous film and conclude a nine film saga, they did what they could.
As a sort of side note: Kylo Ren and Adam Driver really carried these films in my opinion. It's a testament to how great of an actor he is. His transition back to Ben Solo was great. I loved the "ouch" line, and the subtle shrug he gives to the Knights of Ren when he obtains the lightsaber. He was the only character that I was invested in during these films.
Overall score: theytried/10

I would have much preferred a Darth Jar Jar big bad than Palpatine still being alive for some inexplicable reason.

Movie should have had Darth Jar Jar slicing Rey in two and Force electrocuting Ren. Then it just ends with him sitting on the throne as the resistance is slaughtered.

I liked the movie. It brought the story back on track and undid Rian Johnson's failings. Shure it was overloaded, suffered from powercreep and created some plotholes trying to patch up the story, but it delivered a satisfying action-packed story, that honored the original trilogy without copying it.
The Good:
-the world building was gorgeous and well done
-most action scenes had some great purpose behind them and weren't just thrown in
-Hux being a spy explains his incompetence quite well
-I liked how the Emperor totally fodderized Rey and Kylo at first
-every side character had some purpose
-the comedy bits involving C3PO worked well and werent overdone
-The final battle was a nice climax and they really went quite far with the suspension
-Lando still has a lot of swagger
-I like how Rey takes over the Skywalker legacy, I mean why not? Luke and Leia are the closest thing to parents she has known
-Poe's storyline was kinda cool from bickering hothead to rebellion leader
The Bad:
-the emperor's unexplained survival seemed pretty unbelivable
-the first half of the movie was a little too hectic for my taste, let me enjoy the settings
-Chewie should have stayed dead to build some suspension
-that whole 'rescue Chewie' subplot could have been scrapped, it made no sense to rush in there without any plans and the bad guys looked like fools during it
-there was no real suspense during the Kylo/Rey fight, since Kylo wasn't trying to hurt her anyways
-old characters appearing as ghosts happened a little too much
-how did this rag-tag team of random pilots beat Palpatine's giant fleet?
Other notes:
-those new Force Powers bothered me at times, but didn't seem that out of place witnessed similar stuff during the Clone Wars and video games(stopping space ships telekinetically, cutting through vehicles, force ghosts using powers)
-I think that teleportation power isn't the old 'fold space' and only works via Rey and Kylo's special link
-I don't think jedi can resurrect dead people now, they can only reanimate dying ones and it also costed Kylo all his life energy
-healing wounds is OP though, but at least they made shure it crippled the user
-Leia knocking Lukke down during a sparring match does not make her more powerful than him, I doubt either of them went 100% serious

Oh look, the conflicted guy turns to the good side, then together they kill palpatine, then the conflicted guy dies, then the hero leaves and the whole universe celebrates. Sound familiar?
I didn't really like any of the sequels, but at least episode 8 kind of had its own story. It wasn't an exact copy of the original trilogy like episodes 7 and 9 were

The thing that annoys me the most is that this trilogy makes the events of the original trilogy seem like a complete waste of time.
What happened in the original trilogy? They...
>blew up the Death Star
>blew up the second Death Star
>killed the emperor
>liberated the galaxy from the evil empire
>good guys win
Now like 40 years later...
>the galaxy is ruled by an evil empire again??? How?
>they have another Death Star but this time it’s biggerer
>the good guys are still called the “resistance”? Lol didn’t you guys win the war? Shouldn’t the bad guys be the underdogs now? How could you let this happen again?
>all the OG heroes die in stupid ways
>oh and the emperor isn’t even dead lmao... Vader sacrificed himself for nothing I guess
What was the point of the original trilogy then? What did Luke Skywalker and his gang accomplish that wasn’t completely undone within a couple decades?

Anakin being the chosen one had more to do with Plagius' meddling with the force than anything Sidious did, so after Plagius and Sidious were killed/dethroned, the force reached a balance and stopped giving a **** until the next set of *******s started messing with it.
The point is there is no point; the force is going to force balance between the Sith/Jedi, and as long as there are force sensitives in the universe, the same tired plot is doomed to repeat itself. There will be another sith emperor, there will be another chosen one, and all of the regular people are caught in the middle of the endless conflict with no free will. When viewed in this light, the force can be seen as an evil entity.
It is not so much the major events as the small day-to-day decisions that map the course of our living. . . Our lives are, in reality, the sum total of our seemingly unimportant decisions and of our capacity to live by those decisions. ― Gordon B. Hinckley

I watched it tonight and I’m honestly glad it’s over....I really wish they had of cut it off after Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars was a Cold War era film series that never really survived into the 90s...All of the pieces were there (Big Sound/CGI/Epic worlds/Force/etc) but the story was lost. What they never understood is that we didn’t care about the world of starwars. We cared about the people in the original series. They abandoned them, built the story round lineage and tried to make it work. It never worked..They should have never gone for prequels. If they would going to move forward they should have done sequels.
