Yes this is a stupid simple riddle, but that's the point of it. They are trying to show that college kids (97%) are idiots.
Much like the miscers saying $100 and not $30. But it's ok if you got it wrong brah, you're part of the 97% of college kids that are idiots, so at least you're not alone.

Didn't read rest of thread. Not going to take into account markup or anything like that and just think of things super simplistically. Going to assume it isn't a trick question about wording either.
My potato guess is $70.
