This direction kunt clearly tried to do his own thing and embarrassed himself - seems like he has no idea what the Star Wars lore is. Honestly all we needed were half-coherent stories with bad ass characters and lightsaber fights and we'd be happy. They can't even do that. This actually made me appreciate the prequels a lot more - I can't believe this ass hole is supposed to direct the next trilogy LMAO.

He also had a mentor (obi wan) and he learned to respect and use the force. Be one with the force. Now its just Rey already knows everything, no respect, no mentor, just runs around willy nilly wielding the force. After the force awakens end scene I thought ok it seems justifiable because clearly its going to reveal in the next movie that she is Lukes daughter, but nope.

The internet used induction and analysis to uncover the original planned storyline. I.e, Snoke being Darth Plagueis, Rey being a great grandchild of the Emperor, Kylo Ren working undercover for Luke.

So the folks at Disney caught wind of these true fan theories and re-wrote the script to cancel those out.

What I really don't understand is how the Hollywood sites are pretending this is a decent movie in any way. If you read the users reviews, you'll see on average it's about 2/8 stars.

They really do bribe all the major critics these days. You simply cannot trust any critic reviews. I always wait for the audience consensus since that generally reveals the overall quality of a movie, especially one aimed at the general population. Sometimes, the critics get it right, like with Birdman, which didn't enjoy as much audience appreciation as critical review (but imo was a fantastic movie), but cases like that are the exception.

For any big name movie put forth by a major studio with a huge release, you can expect that every critic has been bought out.

If you look at a movie like Blade Runner 2049, which didn't enjoy nearly as huge of a release, and which recieved some mixed reviews from critics, it got overwhelming acclaim from the audience. But you will see critics putting Star Wars ahead of it because of some SJW agenda or outright bribery.

Those corporate buyouts aren't cheap brahs. Was gonna go give Disney my money, now I'm not going to give Disney my money. Thanks misc.

I honestly am pissed for defending it in TFA lol. I gave them the benefit of the doubt even with Rouge One. But the PC revisionism is so strong and blatant in this movie. Let's play devils advocate. Let's say that the money guys at Disney got in a room somewhere and said forget it, we're aiming this franchise towards women and kids now.

Would they really say that? They must have I'm assuming. The question is, do they expect women and men to switch roles? Historically speaking, the Star Wars sci-fi fans are males. Men and women simply are different. Do they expect the sexes to change and now women are all the sudden giant nerdy SW fans and they make their money that way?

Because that's the only reasonable explanation.

The other explanation is that they wanted to project their politics in this movie... which is just so wrong and sad it's hard to explain. This isn't a political TV show, it's the most historic franchise ever and shouldn't be a political platform.

So if It's #1, do they really expect women will be captivated and become the new Star Wars fans?

This isn't anything new. I have seen kids shows on Disney that focus on the female (Hannah Montana, etc.).
The girl is the star, the most popular kid, while the guy is a skinny fool that wears a garbage can on his head.

How inaccurate is this though? Woman do mature faster then men.

They also do have a place, an example would be Supergirl.

But to use Star Wars as a stage to really promote this way of thinking is odd, especially when the military of today is still mostly males.
