I’d expect more deflation in the market as we get closer to opening up the world again and retail investors begin looking at their stonks as a way to fund vacations n chit. So many people have gotten into the market over the pandemic, all this money flowing out of stonks and into the real economy is part of what will drive inflation out of the stonk market and into goods/services

Someone mentioned before that they have a software advantage, and that right there is actually everything.
Dont you guys see the historic delay in these types of companies. Like even a Mercedes UI from 5-8years ago felt like it was from an ATM from 15 years ago.
So unless these guys are opening up a branch in Silicon Valley Bay Area (come to Oakland see what happens) for each company and going there and living the life and hiring actual smart modern era programmers, they are not gonna keep up.
Software is that important. It’s everything.
Same thing happened with John Carmack captaining the Oculus empire VS WMR and Valve. His engineers were so efficient, so low latency, so at the core of the API level he’s like tapping straight into the CPU and GPU. Ultra low overhead, ultra low level. Ultra low latency.
And engineers like him talk a lot of crap on people who don’t think like that, who don’t think different. People who don’t get the importance of design principles, that’s actually the most common software designer you find out there. I don’t know how to explain it yet but I am very aware there’s a whole different breed of engineer out there that studies minimalism principles of software engineering and priorities such things above all else and the rest are kinda lazy and sloppy in comparison.
This Indian dude summarizes it pretty well: the other car companies like fincher rivian And even VW are still quite far away.
Talks about competitors at around 45-60 min
Especially at 51 min

More responsive Ui and fart mode don’t make Tesla worth its valuation though, it needs to be a real revenue generator. Autonomous driving software could be that but we are so far off from having truly autonomous vehicles.
When do you guys realistically think we’ll be able to just hop into a car and have it drive us somewhere with no regular intervention? Or have fleets of automated robotaxis driving themselves around?
2030 seems highly unlikely. 2040? 2050?
When do we think solid state batteries will be deployed? We don’t even have the tech yet much less all the manufacturing infrastructure set up for it
Feels like the latest iteration of the cure for baldness: just wait five more years, it’s right around the corner

As a car guy, seeing what tesla is doing, ford (for example) just cant make an "EV" and do the same thing as tesla. They do all sorts of things car companies dont. It may seem silly, but it goes everywhere with what theyre doing with every aspect of the car, sort of creating a car company with a "soul." Like the silly things such as "ludicrous mode"....or other quirky/gimmicky things with their cars that traditional car companies dont, and seem to not want to, do because theyre too big or afraid to tip the norms that their company was based on. Auto updating software is another. Or the "dance mode" or whatever from a few years ago.
In another example, i've recently gotten into golf and a lot of the "new school" podcasts like on barstool, they do stuff that's fun and that the casual golfer does regularly. That you absolutely *dont* see on old golf media.

listen keep your zhitty gps and give me carplay so I can have my phone gps/connected with all kind of LIVE notifications while I drive.
how about:
- software updates?
- tuning?
- diagnostic?
- reminders?
- trade in offers after your car has xyz miles?
also you don't have to go and fight with the f old dude to get a good price - EVERYONE pays the same price ala AWS... Go online, order your car, get financing and we delivery for you (they need more showrooms tho so we can "test drive" the car).
tesla has been revolucionancing the car space the same way aws did with a few years ago.

FYI if not aware, CNQ boosted their dividend by 11% with their latest quarterly results. Watch out for SU also restoring their dividend, which was halved during the pandemic. Investors will be looking to price that in up front with CNQ already bumping up theirs, but I'd expect a surge in SU's price when that happens
With this dividend boost I'm getting a fukn 9.6% yield on CNQ, my only regret is not having $500k-$1m to throw into them right when the pandemic hit because I would've done it without hesitation

The closer the expiry date you’ll have a higher return but more risk. I also grabbed some $23 calls that expire in March 19 that are already up 70% since last week.
Premiums are probably gonna be high tomorrow though if We open green so watch out for that
Edit: Oil futures pumping das it

Energy is the new tech sector.
Crude over $70 damn we going to $100 by summer again.
This might hurt meme stocks that wsb likes to pound with option flow, could be rotating into energy options.
Futures not bad dow leading nicely, nasdaq small positive so far.

I just think the powers that be have far more control over that stock price than the average redditor realizes. At this point they're just along for the ride.
I think a lot of stim money is just going to be cycled right into the pockets of the banks. GME is just the conduit.
