Also one tip I learned

Spoiler!
After the second time skip you want to buy two accessories from the shop ASAP. One increases your exp gain and the other increases your AP gain. I think this is helped a ton in getting more powered up. Id skip the Gil one because Gil seems easy I’m up over 100k already without selling much, the hunts give a lot of gil

Lmao the fight with Hugo was amazing. Stopped right after but will play a bit, ps5 now says I'm over half way but just barely. Game is long if you're doing the side stuff too.

Jumped in last night for the first time. Played about an hour or so and had to hit the sack. REALLY enjoying everything so far. Can't wait for all the side quests to kick in.

Anyone recommend a decent headset? I found a refurb Turtle Beach on Amazon, but i dunno anything about all of these. I had a generic sony one back in the day that was more than enough since im not an audiophile.

Some of the side quests with the bearers are really dark. It's good stuff though.

Game is actually pretty long if you do all the side stuff. I'm just now over 50% and still have 3 eikons I dont have.

Is there any HUD elements during exploration in this game? I absolutely hate that, ruins immersion for me. I also think the HUD from what I've seen during gameplay is way too much, sucks so many devs don't include the option to disable some elements or better yet just let them be hidden with a touchpad swipe or something.

~71% through atm. Been doing every side quest possible before advancing any story missions. Will say that skipping all side missions isn't the best idea because:

1) A lot of them involve, or otherwise conveniently place you near, some of the bounties. Good for helping renown unlocks.

2) There's more rewards from them than just leveling up, getting accessories, or getting materials...

Spoiler!
One side quest unlocks chocobo riding. Another one unlocks increase in potion potency (healing amount and buff durations). Probably some other things to get from them too.


Ignoring the side missions, the main story has a patternistic approach of:

Major plot goal acknowledged/decided --> Travel and deal with side character chit --> Reach a new town but gotta do favors or solve problems for XYZ reasons enabling you to proceed --> Finally good content --> Climax with GREAT content --> Lots of favors and dialogue at home base -> Repeat

Feels kinda like an endless loop if you focus on the pattern. And the side chit, lulls, seem to actually grow in frequency and length as you progress. Factor in the side missions, which I've been doing all of them, and the game easily lasts 50+ hours (especially if you don't skip dialogue).

Nope, no hud elements during exploration. It's only during battles that pop up.

Also the side quests are kind of a mixed bag.



There's a lot of atrocious ones but there are some which are kinda interesting and just expand upon the world and lore. The actual way of doing them is kinda boring and lame though ... go here and just beat enemies, rinse repeat, but some of the writing is ok. SOME.



Also, do the side quests that have a "+" attached to them ... They're quite important in the sense that they give important upgrades for Clive. They also seem to be slightly meatier.

I guess this is okay and good for the OLED but I'm still annoyed by how many UI elements are all over the screen while combat is happening. I really hope they have a fix, it's 2023 and there's no excuse to not have HUD customization in AAA games.
