Shallow = Judging someone for their looks only, not considering the depth to their character/personality

I'm sayingwhy not have both, LOOKS + PERSONALITY.

You are sayingyou can compromise looks/preferences under the condition her personality is top notch.

Thats because they get approached the most. Ugly/average sloots always get hit up by men as they are seen as easier lays and less intimidating. Gives them a false sense of security and entitlement.

Not everyone has to be an extreme dieting, heavy lifter with immense discipline. As long as they are healthy - they can decide how they want to keep in shape.

People shouldn't try to control their partners.

Only about 5% of the population fit this. 9+ in looks and a down to earth, realistic personality? Pftt, yea right homie.

I think that's what Vox is saying - be realistic in your expectations and standards.

It's more due to the fact that you notice these things BEFORE you are in a relationship, and trying to see if you are actually genuinely interested in them. It's fair enough that some people have their preferences, for example, some girls may prefer more "manlier" males who can lift tonnes of chit, or some females may prefer the pretty boys. If you were already in a relationship, and then started noticing these things, and your relationship started getting negative because of it, then yes. yes you are a petty phuck

Yea, he does. He's not a big social media person. He does get his split routines from here though, so I'm sure he's reading my posts.

So settling then? lol nah I’m good.

I Didn’t say you have to get a 10/10, just nothing wrong with finding someone who fulfils your main preferences. And not to be butthurt about someone rejecting you because of it. If someone says I don’t find black guys attractive I don’t care. Should be the same with height. Obviously they should be smarter and more diplomatic and less blunt.

Size Queen checking in.

If you don't have shoulders and pecs, sorry. But that's something most people can acquire by lifting. I don't go around insulting people though. The way I see it... preferences are preferences, I don't like men who are too tall, they don't exactly complain either because I'm too short.

That said, 3/4 exes have dad bod. Don't think I can go back to that though. /deardiary.

Obviously, I'm referring to things that people can't change. If they're a fat slob with bad hygiene and have zero pride in their appearance, well then all bets are off.
Same here. It's kinda ****ty to knock people for things they can't control. Women will absolutely lose it over fat comments but will joke about height all the time.

If you are enamoured by tall men more than anything and you end up marrying Danny devito, you settling

Okay but that has about zero to do with my post.

But I'll try to speak your language:

If you're Danny Devito's height and expect to be with a supermodel = unrealistic expectation
If you're Free Willy and won't date anyone who's over 140 lbs = warped standard

Hope that makes sense.

I do have fat and short friends that pull hot women though. I have ugly friends that pull hot women consistently. It’s not a rare thing to see people dating outside of their league.

Because he's the type who likes to twist statements into strawman arguments of his own making. Which is why I didn't even bother to continue to respond.

To be clear: I wouldn't date anyone who didn't meet a certain threshold level of attributes I find appealing. I wouldn't "settle" for someone. There are certainly attributes they might have, despite being an otherwise wonderful person, that would make them relatively unattractive to me.

But I wouldn't belittle them for having features they cannot change and which I personally find unattractive. That's a douchebag move, and I find people who would do that to be shallow and a turn off. Which was my original point.

Like you would be initially attracted to a girl that has a huge birthmark where her face should be. We all have physical attributes we're not drawn to. I will make this disclaimer though, as harsh as I sometimes sound on BB, half the guys I dated I was not attracted to at first (scrawny) but they were very nice upstanding people, so I gave it a shot. Eventually I got bored (mix of physical and personality incompatibilities though). Sword cuts both ways. You can't ignore what you find unattractive just to feel better about not being shallow. But then again I also let my last relationship go even though the guy was physically my type, just personality wise we didn't match well.

Confused yet?
They said she's gone too far this time

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't believe in leagues, I believe in being realistic. There are a small group of men who post on the R/H boards whining endlessly about their failures with women. For THOSE men, and a multitude of others, the concept of personal change doesn't exist. They're perfectly happy doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Personal standards/expectations have to be modified depending on the type of experiences you're having with the opposite sex.

Agreed. I also had a couple expectations that I required in my partner. I'd say 2-3 rigid standards, everything else was flexible. It took me a long time to find someone who met those couple requirements. Everything else, we'll grow into / work on.

Liking/admiring is one thing. Hell, I'd say go try to get hooked up if you can. Where it falls apart is when these same men whine endlessly because they refuse to adjust their standards after numerous fails.
Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.
