Maybe start newbies out with 500 reps so they aren't immediately damned to red for all eternity after five posts. If they are truly chit posters or multi accounts, it will become apparent soon enough and they'll turn red. This would also make a negative reputation more meaningful.

The problem is that the biggest jerks had enough high rep power to put even a newb with 500 reps into the red, and they neg in groups too. You call out one of them and then his buddy with also 500k reps would neg you and so on.

One or two negs and youd be doomed.

Getter_done wouldn't be a candidate for hostility or anything like that, but when someone makes the argument that rep power is a good indicator of who's a quality poster or someone who even posts about lifting topics, he's a prime example. There are several factors I take into account for resets or reductions. Just having high reps or not posting about lifting topics isn't going to guarantee a reset or reduction.

I'm curious about this too. EOD and Wincel clearly have alts that have been posting for weeks now and a mod responded to a troll earlier today but they're not banned. Is that rule relaxed?
