Please respond.

Saw Oppen and Barbie back to back today

Fooking loved Oppen. 9.5/10 for me one of Nolans absolute best. .5 point deducted because they focused a bit too much on the politics and not enough on the science/development (and where was Von Neumann?) but still an incredible piece of cinema

Gotta be honest Barbie was trash. The Oppen joke about the Kyoto honeymoon got a bigger laugh out of my audience than anything in Barbie lol. Ryan gosling was good but he couldn't save it

I watched Oppen and it was ok. Not enough science. Too much talk. I would rather see how they actually developed the bomb. There was hardly any of that. I almost fell asleep the last 45 minutes. And I am a guy who does not like action movies. I like interesting docs and mystery. But it just got boring at the end.

Why would any grown man....especially a Korean man....spend money to see a movie about a white Barbie doll?

Blows my mind.

You could not pay me to see that movie....and that is true even if they made the movie about the true original Barbie doll.....which was a doll for white, traditional American culture, conservative America.

Thanks for the input. I need to check out Oppenheimer, maybe next weekend.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Loved Oppenheimer, crazy how there was allegedly no CGI.

It wasn't without flaws though, hated when there was music blasting over the dialogue at some points. I even loved the whole unofficial trial.

Crazy how he was the "Father of the Atom Bomb," and then vilified afterwards because of his left leanings.

Notice how Pat and Sillie and other libs all post at the same time and then disappear? Like in this thread?

Gives credence to the DM I was sent 2 years ago about how they have a secret discord message group where they all decide who posts, what to post, and when to post.

Reminds me of Hyenas.

OK I'll take off 1 for the lack of science. It peeved me but I still was engrossed in the film despite the length. And I'm not a blind Nolan cocksucker I hated tenet. Genuinely thought it was a fantastic movie.

As for your 2nd question

1) I'm not a pathetic conservative snowflake

2) I'm not poor

Not that difficult

Nolan is known for his inaudible dialogue lol. Agree it was hard at times but compared to tenet he at least tried lmao.

I mean the guy wasn't a commie by any stretch. I fully believe he was a New Deal Democrat like he says in the film, and there's plenty or evidence to support that. But the witch hunt was a product of the times of course.

1. I know you are not. But the fact is the original Barbie and Ken dolls were created for white conservative America. Blond hair, blue eyes. Americana. Etc etc.

2. No one said you are poor. What I said was why would anyone spend 1 penny on a movie that being honest? Only gay men or young girls should see.

Are you a gay man isingmodel?

After the movie, I looked up the fact vs fiction on it, and it was pretty spot on. But to just turn on him like that, because he was against the hydrogen bomb, and escalation??? I guess if he just "fell in line," they would have kept singing his praises.

Yeah but they are Korean.

And I agree he is not nearly as bad as some of the other leftists on here. He used to be but he has moderated as of late.

But as a Korean I mean why go see a woke movie about a doll when you could watch girls like these?

Well you can watch any movie for free if you have the right website.Which is how I watched Oppen while trading stocks the other day.

Only real reason to go to theater now is to get out of the house with your gf or wife.

I won't argue. You 100% absolutely do.

My wife and I watch the K dramas just about every night. I am literally amazed at how beautiful Korean girls are and how young they look compared to their actual age. Right now watching King the Land with Yoona and before that See you in my 19th life and before that just about every K rom com there is. We love them.

And we 100% will be going to see Le Serrafim when they tour N America.

I am jealous of you in that regard.

We just came back from Oppenheimer and I agree.

Like I said earlier, the political witch hunt following the war was an important part of the Oppenheimer story and needs to be told. But I'm not gonna lie, this was pretty rough..

No two ways about it..

You have to look at the timeframe after WWII. "The Bomb" had just won WWII and whole country was in love with it and this brand new nuclear shiit. And Oppenheimer tried to put the brakes on it, so the politicians went out of their way to fuking crush him.

I'm 43. But come on, if your wife/GF drags you to certain movies, you get a pass.

****, I remember I was 16-17, and I had to see "First Wife's Club." I really wanted to see Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas hunt lions, but instead I had to watch a movie about a bunch of shrews trying getting revenge on their ex husbands.....

Except he wasn't, and we actually owe him so much for what he did. The Japanese were literally fighting to the death, in Okinawa and Saipan.

Hell, the top military brass wanted to keep fighting after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Wasn't just him, but numerous other scientists that worked on it.

Even that scene with Truman was pretty accurate.

Oppenheimer famously claimed to have “blood on his hands,” during his meeting with Truman, a comment that infuriated the president.

“Blood on his hands; damn it, he hasn’t half as much blood on his hands as I have. You just don’t go around bellyaching about it,” Truman said, according to the book Robert Oppenheimer: A Life Inside the Center by Ray Monk. He called Oppenheimer a “cry-baby scientist” and said, “I don’t want to see that son of a b–– in this office ever again.”

The best scientists in the entire world worked on it.

The Manhattan Project was like nothing anybody had ever seen before... The best scientists, an unlimited budget, and free reign to do this atomic shiit that until then was nothing but theory.. So from a scientific standpoint it was a wet dream..

But once they did the Trinity test, Oppenheimer alone said... "Yeah, you know this might not be the best idea after all guise." And after the war he became really outspoken about it... So the politicians fuked him over.

It's sad AF in my opinion.. I just think the story could have been told better.

But anyway...

1950: "You're a Communist!"

2023: "You're a racist!"
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Want to destroy someone? I'm sure there's something "racist" that person said or did for the entire time they've been alive. They did it to Rogan. "Hurr Durr, he one time said the N word on his podcast like 12 years ago." All because he questioned the almighty jab......

Leaving Von Neumman out of this movie was baffling especially from a director like Nolan. Still waiting for a mainstream film that documents his achievements. Almost unquestionably the smartest human that ever lived
