I like it. Me too. Got lucky on OMG. I was trying to get out at 13 but bittrex froze. When it finally came back it was trading over 14 and got out.

.Just real quick I think the reason TA has potential to work and the reason why I put faith in it is because it's essentially just charting human behavoir and from what I know about human psych, I know that people pretty much haven't changed much in hundreds of thousands of years when it comes to thought processes so in general people react in unconscious and predictable ways to an extent. Things like fibanocci numbers and extensions work for this reason I think, it's pretty ****ing amazing how much fib numbers show themselves in the world actually. Like for example the perfect body proportions are thought to be a form of fib numbers regarding shoulder/waist/chest/hip/leg size. So there's something weird going on there and I choose to believe in it.

Also, TA is kinda a self fulfilling prophecy because enough people use it, it just naturally becomes true.

I get the feeling there are some big money investors shifting from one high cap coin to the next, all these breakouts and good support during sell cycles to me seems like its all just being traded and not HODL inverstors.

I hear ya bro, it's a popular thing to hate but gotta remind myself its not my job to go out of my way to prove it to others, so I don't like getting into those convos unless there's something real on the line. people gonna believe whatever they want and in the end you don't get anything out of convincing others.

Ah gotcha, read through it. I agree with it alot actually. One of the sayings we have is 'the market is never wrong' which EMH is basically saying. I'm not sure how they draw the connection between that and not being able to do tech analysis and the example they gave of the 1987 crash doesn't make much sense to me. Thats a scenario in which TA would actually be a helpful tool. When you see things breaking trendlines, you know something is up. You can't rely on any one indicator so maybe thats what they were referring to, but again thats you can't isolate any one variable, it's best to look at the whole pie. so really the best analysis is some combination of FA, TA, overall market feeling, news, public sentiment etc in my opinion.

Heres the thing though, hypothesis like this are kinda irrelevant in a way because multiple ways have been proven to be successful. The way that article outlined it could work for some people, but for me and my personality I'm more suited to actively trade. Some people take longer swing trade positions, some hold no matter what, so theres really all kinds of viable strategies it just comes down to what works for you.

Also the big problem with academic understandings of this kinda subject and actually most others in my opinion is that when doing tests it kinda neglects the super outliers in favor of finding the mean. So really I would be more interested in studying the ultra successful outliers and find out what the **** theyre doing rather than the average 'success'

Ah sniper. yeah hes pretty damn good. There's a bunch of diff ways to chart things but I think the bottomline is that good charting will mostly give you the same conclusions even if you take different ways to get there. I was actually thinking about it, but then the other side of me gets scared because if I make one bad call and a crazy person takes it the wrong way they'll come after me and I don't have any guns haha.
