Down in Tucson visiting family so riding the local trails with groups.

Friday: Black Friday BBQ & MTB Fest hosted by GURU Bikes. Over 60 people showed up. Broke up into different ride groups.
Rode with the advanced group (Ridgeline). Great riders, fast AF group. Was able to keep up with the leaders on the ss, but not overtake. LOL.

Saturday: Rode another group ride (30 riders total) down in Green Valley, AZ. Desert West Trails.

Both days were my first time on those trails. Fun times with great people. Met new friends, talked to old friends, a great time.

Tomorrow (Sunday), riding again at 50-year, hope to do either GEM or Upper-50, & middle gate.

Last ride in Tucson. 50-tear trail system. By far, my favorite trail, especially Upper-50 and GEM.

Great ride with great friends.

Oh.. and ZERO rear brakes for the entire ride. LOL. Didn't even slow me down.

Couple Vids some flow down 50 Year Trail:

Chasing a fellow rider down after a 18sec head start. He on a geared buke, me on my SS (32/20 gear ratio). Trai is called "Rocket Ship".
Granted, no excuse, BUT it was at the end of an hour+ ride, and I rode 3 days straight. LOL... no excuses though. Next time.

Rode down in Vail, AZ. Hohokam Trail & McKenzie Ranch Trail. Almost 17 miles today.

Gorgeous weather, and hero dirt. Unfortunately, cows and cowpies everywhere on the trail.

Truth.. riding does wonders for sleep. LOL. I'm wore out pretty much everyday, but wake up with so much energy. I literally cannot stay still.

This was yesterday's ride (Friday) down 24th St on SoMo in Phoenix, AZ.



Then another ride tomorrow (Sunday) in Oro Valley, AZ. LOL.

Then taking a 4 day break only because I'm traveling for 4 days without my bike. LOL

Been getting back to MTBing lately. swapped my single speed gear ratio up from 52 gear inches to 56, that tiny bump increases my pace by a ridiculous amount. It really changes the dynamic and forces me to use more momentum blasting into the bottom of a climb.

Might go out again tomorrow, weather is literally perfection right now.

What's your chainring:cog, wheel size?

Running 47 gear inches, perfect for me and hills. (32:20 29"x2.35").

I catch riders on the downhill, and sprint on the steep up.

My smallest gear is 30x16, (52 gear inches) and it feels very slow unless I'm doing a ton of climbing. I have run 32x15 (59 gear inches) but that only feels correct on trails like browns ranch.

Even when I ran a hardtail, went 32:20 on my 29". I ran that in the Tour of the White Mountain 50mile. Lot of climbing though. Only been running full-sus in the last year.

Never going back to ht. My rear sus does have a lock-out, and I switch to it on the flats constantly. Tech and rock climbing on full-sus is so nice. Uphill, I just roll and grip everything without catching the rear wheel to mess with my momentum.

Bombing downhill is a no-brainer.. soaks everything up and just full send it.

Man, once you go f/s ss... it's a whole 'nother feeling on the trail. It's just so playful on it.

Saying that.... I'm dusting off my 26" rigid ss, bringing it down to Tucson this weekend. Rim brakes & narrow bars. 2003 is asking for it's bike back. Going to ride the 24hour course this Sunday in the Old Pueblo (17 miles)

Obviously I could try something with LESS travel than the Bronson, but I have zero desire.

The first year with the full suspension bike was cool because it opened up some trails I wouldn't have otherwise tried, but after the newness wore off, I was back to riding my hardtail about 90% of the time.

Thin steel tubes are the universal aesthetic GOAT frames. This is objectively true.

If you work on your own bikes, external cable routing is THE ABSOLUTE DREAM.

I custom ordered my current frame to have ALL EXTERNAL cables, even the dropper cable lol.

EDIT: I do agree skinwall tires are ugly AF.

It's really weird riding a f/s ss. It's fast, and feels light on the trail. I actually keep up with the gearies (ht or f/s) and some e-bikes. Maybe it's just mine, but honestly.. it doesn't feel like a typical f/s gearie... I really can't explain it. Guarantee, I can keep up with you, and I know you got skillz.

Dude, we gotta ride. I'll let you ride my f/s ss.

i like the bigger frames, makes the MOUNTAIN bike look how its suppost to plus you know it can handle the toughness. those thin frames are straight 90's style. semi agree with the housing part but TBH i don't work on bikes regularly. only thing i like is the 2nd bikes color as it really pops but the ugly brown wheels totally deter the visual aspect. and of course cant go wrong with fox but i ride rockshox

Guess where I'm at?...... TUCSON!

Final tour ride for Old Pueblo MTB 2023 to end the season. Then after the art & mural ride around downtown Tucson, there was an after party at MotorSonora Brewing Company. Fun fun times with fun people and awesome riders. Tucson biking community is like no other, srs.

Rode the 26" full-rigid single speed. Rode there from my folks. On the way back, after the ride and party.. snapped my pedal off at the axel 4 miles from my parents.
LOL! Bought new pedals at walmart for tomorrow's ride. Cheap, but will get the job done.



I'm the one holding up my bike. lol!

Broke my collar bone again. Today at Hawes. 3rd time on the same left collarbone.

Did Boulder Dash... didn't break it there.

Broke on a flow trail. Flying down at high speed..hit a pedal catcher. Threw me directly on my shoulder. Snap city.

Pedal catcher hit the pedal so hard, ripped it off the cranks, right through the threads.

I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
