LOL unfortunately I called it- beefed up expectations meant share price hardly moved. That blows my mind considering they moved to buy back up to 5% of shares this year. Although I think there was expectation too that they were going to increase their dividend. Quite frankly I am far happier to see them increase buybacks over boosting a dividend(as a call holder ayy lmao).
But serious question- they bought back a ton of shares like 20 million or something, but their average cost since Jan 2021 was somehow $27… Their share price hasn't even touched $27 all year so why is their average buyback cost so high? Is it because they are doing the math with Canadian funny bucks?
EDIT: Ahh they are reworking one of the oil sands plants and it'll affect output for Q3 buy 125k barrels/day. That makes sense why SU is dropping. But srs why TF did they not get all maintenance/upgrades that would affect production significantly completed BEFORE when they were hardly producing anything anyway??

Would be surprised though because I think Suncor sites are much better to work at than CNRL, it's difficult to get people to work @ CNRL because they're so cheap and accommodations etc are like the worst of the worst (aka good for shareholders)
Cenovus getting lots of love on their Q2 numbers

We had serious labor shortage's in Alberta during this year's maintenance season. We had our maintenance turn-around early this year and could only get 60% of our labor requirements. Many of the other sites up north and around town deferred theirs because of it. These big turn-arounds need a lot of out of province workers and COVID restrictions created that shortage.
I honestly don't think the Fort Hills production guidance will cut into their earnings that much, and it's an over-reaction. It's a brand new plant that just started up maybe 1-2(?) years ago. It wasn't running at full capacity before anyways.
Looks like we're back to normal markets. Company reports really good earning, stonk goes down. Tides come in tides come out, can't explain that.

With the bulk of the turn-around season over and if WTI stays $65-75$ Q3/Q4 earning will be even better. We've seen now from Suncor, MEG, and CVE that they're reducing debt at high levels.
Future earnings will be stellar.
One thing I'm curious about is our export capacity. Before COVID we couldn't move product out of Canada/Alberta to market. I'm not sure if that's an issue again now, or if enough juniors/mid-cap companies went under to alleviate that capacity issue.
Didn't see any comments in earnings about export capacity constraints.

Oil looking very bullish, it looks like it's going to break $75.
It should trade between $72 and $76 short term.
I think the year high is likely to reach $84-86.
Lol at RH.

Only thing that will throw a wrench into that is Iran deal and Libya being able to maintain their production, which is highly unlikely.
Another company I've been accumulating is Methanex [MX.to]. Same fundamentals as the oil plays. Real good entry price right npow.

Almost bought HOOD at 33, but couldnβt pull the trigger.
So now after RIDE crashed and burned now itβs NKLA. Maybe staying away from EV startups is a good idea.
That said, big discount territory soon lol
