If you live in an apartment or condo, they don't let you do it in the parking lot and it's not worth it to illegally do it on the side of a road or trespassing in some business parking lot. Might as well just go to an oil change place in that case

You don't save that much doing yourself, maybe 20-30 bucks but at least you know it was done, so many stories of those quicklubes not changing anything and charging you

Also they use the cheapest oil filter. I use OEM or better

I take it to an old school napa shop down the road typically, but the dealer was running a special and their waiting room is nicer so decided to try them again.

the old school napa shop guys are great, don't sell shit you don't need, they just do work and get you out. They pad slapped my buddies car though so I'm beginning to question a little bit... aren't you supposed to always do rotors too?
Don't have to but it's a best practice for maximum contact, low noise, and prevents future problems. In all reality the rotors wear too and less metal means less ability to absorb heat so if you drive hard or live in a hot area I would replace rotors.

I go to one of those drive thru oil change places. In and out in 10-15 minutes. My time is worth more than the $60 I’d save.

I do have jack stands (no fooking way I’m getting under a car without them), I would pop a tire off and put it under the car too just for the hell of it. But honestly fuk it, I drive a Civic and that thing is low. It’s not worth it for me anymore risk wise, plus just dropping it off at the shop and then picking it up is only like half an hour of my time

if you can legit drop it off that makes sense since then you are only out driving time. but you're also out the time of whoever picks you up
