Hyper-Focus on Shared Interests: They might converse easily, but the dialogue often gravity-pulls toward their deeply held passions. They may struggle with casual small talk but thrive in deep, structured, or technical discussions.
Literal Interpretation: They might take figures of speech or sarcasm literally, though many learn to interpret these over time through pattern recognition.
2. Behavioral Patterns & Deep Interests
The Comfort of Routine: Predictability provides intense comfort. Subtle, unexpected changes to a schedule, environment, or plan can cause internal distress or anxiety, even if they appear calm on the outside.
Specialized Expertise: They often possess highly focused, intense areas of interest. They don't just "like" a hobby; they fully immerse themselves in its data, history, and mechanics.
Repetitive Behaviors (Stimming): While some people picture overt behaviors like hand-flapping, a high-functioning individual’s self-regulation might be much more subtle: twirling a pen, pacing, tapping a foot, or repeating certain words or phrases internally.
3. Sensory Differences
Sensory Overload: The brain doesn’t always filter out background noise or visual clutter. A crowded room, flickering fluorescent lights, or a specific fabric texture can feel physically painful or completely draining.
Sensory Seeking: Conversely, they might deeply crave certain sensory inputs, like specific sound frequencies, intense flavors, or repetitive tactile sensations.

Edit- sorry if you’re processing this as a possible reality now.

It wouldn’t come up unless it was blatantly obvious and many people learn how to mask it. Elon musk is autistic btw.
