These charts only measure psl and not appeal

Think of attractiveness like a regression equation

Attractiveness = b1(x) + b2(x2) +…. bn (xn) + error term

X1…xn are the traits and b1…bn are the factor loadings (how much each trait matters)

Traits (x1..xn) can be things like contrast, symmetry, bone mass, cheek bone position etc

The first part of the equation is called “psl” and the error term is called “appeal”

The error term represents the part of attraction that can’t be explained by common indicators of attractiveness (x1…xn)

It’s why you may want to smash someone over someone else who may not be as objectively attractive
