Episode 3



Well, at least they are getting straight to the details of what happened in the previous episode.



Danielle: I'm ranking the girls from best to worst on a green/yellow/red scale. Green means you excelled, yellow means you need to improve and red you're on the verge of going home.

Green means reps. Red means negs.



Danielle: Katie you're in the yellow. You have the biggest heart here out of everyone else.

Katie: I'm very happy.



Danielle: I have Vivian in the red this week.

Danielle is giving Vivian red negs.

Vivian: I don't know...

Danielle: You have potential to be better and I can see your potential.



Vivian: She's telling EVERYONE they have potential or whatever the f*** she's going on about.

Danielle: Lauren is in the red this week.



Lauren: I'm in the red because I haven't put anything into it.

Danielle: With Aimee and Neva gone, we decided that no one is going home because all of you girls are so close and we want to give everyone a second chance.

Danielle: You guys are getting on a plane and going to the Gold Coast.




Bonnie: It's cool to start fresh because I feel down on my goals and I feel like I'm putting myself down and other people down.



Lauren, Bonnie and the most boring girl of the entire show have a casual walk over there being no eliminations.



Lauren: Are you guys surprised? We're you shocked?

Bonnie: Totally surprised.

Bonnie: Yeah I wasn't surfing good and I know I have to get better.



Lauren: I'm not super passionate about this. I haven't hit my stride to be a good surfer and now I'm wondering, why am I doing this trip out again?

Jen doesn't utter a single word in this entire conversation that lasts 2 minutes while walking with Bonnie and Lauren.



The girls take a road trip to the Golf Coast in Australia. Hooray for transitional scenes that are well crafted and edited here.

A basic no thrills jogging workout scene that I don't feel like screen recapping much.



Katie: It's hardcore training.

Katie's getting better at giving confessionals.

Jen: During the workout, I just realized that Lauren isn't out there with us.



Danielle furiously rushes back over at the stay house they are at and finds Lauren locked in the main hotel room, they are at.



Lauren: Hey.

Lauren gives the most casual lazy girl in the world confessional ever.



Danielle sits down with a criss cross applesauce sitting position, acting like a 5th grader and confronts why Lauren didn't show up for the workout.



Lauren: This is not for me, when I sat down what I wanted, this wasn't what I wanted. I think I'm a real solid person but, I just know it's not right for me to be here.

Yeah and I can put my finger over my chin too.




And Lauren is out of the show just like that. Lauren is eliminated.

Mary: If she wants to go, let her go.



Bonnie: I can see her being a good surfer one day.

In your dreams.



Jenna: It upsets me that is so many girls's dreams and she can just fling it away like that it's nothing.



Bonnie: Heidi, Molli, Kula, Jen and I decided to stay at home and relax, and the other girls were given to luxury to do whatever they want before the next competition.

Bonnie: I know I'm not as good as the other girls.

I actually can't believe Bonnie just said that.

Vivian: I'm going to go to a bar and have a few drinks before the next competition starts tomorrow.



Vivian actually goes out to a bar and gets drunk.

Kula: Vivian is getting thrashed right now.

Who says "thrashed" when someone is getting drunk?



Vivian even brings over a guy from the club back at the hotel, the girls are staying at.



Jenna: ARE YOU JOKING!?!? We have a contest tomorrow and we need to get some sleep. You know this guy for barely a day! This is f***ed up!



Vivian snuggles in the bed with her boyfriend. Wow.

Danielle is not happy about this.



Danielle: Vivian is wasted?



Vivian has to go puke in the bathroom 4 times.

Vivian: I haven't been like this since New Year's (implying this show takes places in the Summer of 2003, I don't know what Vivian did back in January 2003.)

Vivian: I suffer from hangovers for about 8 hours and then I can get over it. I need to kick it into gear here. I'm in the red.

Surfing competition right now.





Mary and Jenna catch good waves.



April is encouraged to walk for her waves but, she doesn't.




Vivian bails out horribly and gets a zero for her score.

Jen and Heidi score good on the waves.




Bonnie performs atrociously in the water and scores a 1.9/10.



Katie struggles to find good waves.




Vivian improves her game and does a little better in the water.

Jen: No one wants to go home.

Jenna: We all have something to fear.

Bonnie: I could go home.



Danielle: There's parameters with how you go home but, surfing plays the biggest deal out of all of this.

Slow dramatic music plays in the background.

Danielle: Bonnie is going home. I'm sorry to tell you but, we had to make a choice.





Robyn, Bonnie and Heidi cry.



Danielle: It was down to Bonnie and Vivian but, Bonnie just wasn't cutting it.



Bonnie: I gave it my all and that's all I could do. I thought I was going to be here longer.

Kula: You'll be in our hearts.

Jenna: It made me go like "Whoa." if Bonnie can go, then no one is safe because, nobody and I mean nobody thought she would be gone.

And the episode immediately ends. 10 girls remain.

Shockingly, it appears that all 14 of them are still alive and well (around 40-48) years now for all of them.

However, details are rather sparse on the whereabouts of them.

Mary has an old interview regarding the show back in 2011, which I don't feel like linking and sharing. She gave a very monotone interview about the show.

Kula did an interview on the internet and is still surfing in her 40's.

Bonnie was in the 2015 Jurassic Park movie for about 5 seconds (according to IMDB - An unconfirmed source with sketchy proof of her in the movie with no real screenshots. Maybe a body extra?)

And beyond that, not much else. This show really was lost in time forever. I think all of them are still fine but, live very private lives now.

Episode 4

Before we get started, it worth mentioning that the theme song is not present on any of these recordings for whatever reason.



You can see the TV PG square box in the upper left corner, which they always show at the beginning whenever a show comes on the air.

Huh. Anyways we see just the girls casually driving along to the next surfing location.



Kula: I never thought it would be Bonnie.




Jen: Everyone's going through emotions. I was going through emotions.

And I don't think I'm screen capping anymore of Jen's boring ass confessionals unless I really have to anymore. Sigh.

Jenna: No one would figured she left.



Jenna's (who's barely 18 mind you) is driving all the 9 other girls to the next location. Hmmm...

Jenna: We're all tired of traveling and we're all tired of competing.



The girls flirt with Australian surfers driving next to her.



Jenna: I think Aussie guys are sexy.

I don't think it's necessary to put the color code (green/yellow/red) under the confessional name of the girl but, whatever.



The girls are getting ready for the next competition at the hotel, and Molli is wearing only a bathrobe.

The girls just have generic banter over getting worked up over Australian boys instead of the actual surfing.



Jenna: I can't believe that some of the girls like April are so self-centered and so thoughtless. The boys are fine and it's fine to goof off.



Molli: Yeah, we'll call you tomorrow night and then maybe we can hang out some other time.



Jen: Get over it.

Molli: I had nothing to do with this! I didn't get the guys's number.

Jen: No one said it's your fault Molli.

Vivian wearing almost nothing like usual.

Jenna: When you've been around these people for so long and they don't like your opinions, of course they're going to get upset with me.

Jenna: It was April and Jen that got their phone number.

Jen: IT PISSES ME THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ME AND APRIL!

Jenna: But I'm over it. These girls just don't give a s***

Time for another surfing competition.

A lot of people are out in the waves and there's a huge crowd that might spoil some of the fun for the girls.

Robyn: It's madness out there.




April bails out and falls into the water and reminds the girls for good measure to be careful out there.




April: I popped my shoulder out and I felt it come back in.

The O.C. premieres in two weeks on Fox. So, at least we know when exactly these episodes of Surf Girls were recorded. Somewhere around July 2003.

Danielle: The girls are going to take some time off, go camping and see some wildlife.

Jenna: It's nice to go camping.

Heidi: Okay, someone needs to help me out with the tent.

Heidi: ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF ME ROBYN!?!?! MAKE FUN OF ME AND I'LL SHOVE THIS STICK RIGHT UP YOUR ASS!

Heidi: I love being made fun of. Sigh.



Jenna and Vivian bicker about sleeping habits in the tent.



Jenna: Don't sleep on top of my leg.

Vivian: Jenna complains a lot.

Kula: I need to do really well and not get in the red.



Danielle: Watch out for the jellyfish in the water. It's okay we have lifeguards on duty to foresee your work, in case you get in trouble.



Katie: Choppy waves and winds. It looked terrible.



Heidi: I had to dive underneath Jenna to avoid all the girls colliding with us all at once.



Heidi complains to Danielle for having potential spasm panic attacks.

Heidi: I'm scared of the white water waves sometimes and you can't go up yet, because another waves comes in you'll get thrashed around as you come up. I don't want to lose.



Doesn't look good for Katie.

Not one single interesting commercial. Many duplicates. Oh great.

The girls are going to Sydney.

Robyn: Girls were doing push ups during practice and cheating.



Robyn: I could hear people go 20...40...60. I don't care if you're Arnold Schwarzenegger. You can't do it that fast.

Robyn: Jenna can be so rude sometimes.

Jenna: We are driving for hours, looking at the same thing "oh look there's more cows and bushes" and I can't move my feet, because there's too much crap in the car.

Vivian: I don't want to hear it.





Jenna: Sometimes I want to hang out with these girls, sometimes I just want to be far away from them as possible.





Sydney is really pretty.



Heidi: I like being around Jenna and I feel negative energy from the rest of the girls.

Kula: I hate catering around Heidi and Jenna.

Where did this friendship come from?



Jenna has her hair down.



I'm not sure what Robyn is drinking in this close-up shot of her as they stay at a hotel in Sydney for the night.





Heidi: Danielle, I wanted to go to bed early because there was a contest the next day, and when I wanted to tell the girls to be quiet, they stayed up late and just laughed at me and I couldn't understand why.



Kula attempts to talk and ramble on in the camera and I didn't understand a word she said regarding Jenna and Heidi.



I like Jen's purple tank top while talking to Danielle.

Kula: Jenna and Heidi complain a lot and we have to carry the weight they have.



The episode ends accordingly so. No real surfing challenge (unless you count one that was shown briefly for just two measly minutes) and no eliminations. Total filler episode.

Episode 5

Another day in Sydney, Australia.



Robyn: I like Australia.

Katie: I do too. I really like it.




And during the drive there, we see Heidi sponsored for Roxy.



Vivian: Who the f*** does she think she is?



Heidi: Just because I'm sponsored by Roxy doesn't mean anything. I'm an amateur like everyone else.



Jen again rambles on and on and gives some of the most atrocious confessionals I've ever seen in ANY reality show.



Can't tell who this is in black bra. It might be April.

Jenna and Heidi continue to bond.



Jenna: I love these pictures.

Heidi: I hate these pictures.



Mary: I think Heidi is cute and great and she would be even better if she wasn't all "me me me"

Blowing-off like that when Mary's been so under the radar the whole show so far.



Danielle: You girls are doing a press conference dictating some part/factor along with the surfing for the next elimination.



Who's in the green/yellow/red recap. Basically who's getting reps and negs. The green/yellow/red thing becomes more apparent as the show continues.

Jen: I never competed because I thought I was never good enough.

Kula: My dad doesn't even understand why I'm here and he told me to bring a spear and diving gear, before coming here.



Kula: I sometimes talk to my uncle in the water whenever I need help surfing.



Kula gets applause from the crowd.



Danielle: You just let everyone know how much you love your father and uncle. You did nothing wrong.

Heidi: My performance was really bad. I'm doing my best and that's all I can do.

The girls are at Avalon Beach for the next competition. But...swimming is prohibited there? I don't know.



Katie does a pretty bad job like being bad is a routine for her.

April: I don't think Kula understands the rules of this.

Jenna: April knows better than, cutting somebody off on a contest like that. She's unapologetic for it.

Danielle: We have to isolate and quarantine you away from the rest of the girls because Jen never got chicken pox.

Danielle takes her clothes off and wants to guide the other girls to surf in Samoa.

The waves are much bigger and much worse than Sydney, Australia.



Molli is the first to try it out.

Heidi's board breaks into three pieces and we get a backside shot of Katie.

As you might expect, everyone does a pretty miserable job traversing on the cursed waves.

Robyn: We are treating Katie like she's our baby and mold for fitting and I can tell she will get better in due time.

The girls decide to keep Kula in, despite her getting sick.

I'm skipping all the green (reps), yellow and red (negs) nonsense Danielle gave for the girls. I'm not making that color grading scale up.




Long story short, Katie is eliminated. And we are down to 9 girls.




Molli and Jen give atrocious confessionals regarding Katie leaving.




Katie: I won't give up. I'll keep practicing.

You can tell MTV didn't feel confident doing sports-centric shows after Surf Girls came out in 2003.

They wanted to shift into a direction of actual reality TV shows on the network instead. There was a commercial for The Osbournes (a reality show that came out in 2003) and MTV wanted to gear to that instead.

Didn't feel like screen capping that.

Girly-themed shows like Surf Girls wasn't going to cut it, and if they did, they wanted it to be more drama ridden ala Bad Girls Club or Jersey Shore years later.
