Depends on what you consider friends. Most people are not true friends. Most of my new “friends” at the time I met at work. The day you no longer work together anymore you’ll get a sad reality check that they were never true friends and don’t really want to be friends anymore. Don’t why but that’s just how some people are. Most are just acquaintances.

I’ve got about 3-5 friends I hang out with, and a few others that are life long friends but they all moved way the hell away.

Same. I haven’t had FB or any social media since 2011. I have a twitter account which is entertaining here and there.

I like most of the people here and from old misc. It would be a shame if the community totally died off. The misc is one of the funniest collection of SOB’s in internet history.

No you retard. I had plenty of friends growing up but people move away for jobs and get married.

I have 3 “friends” living across the country I used to hang out with every weekend. Sure they are still friends, we play in a fantasy football league together every year, but how often do I see them? Maybe 2-3 times a year?

Also have former friends who have gotten married and had kids. They don’t want to (of have time) to do things anymore. And no, it’s not fun to be the third wheel or hang out at kid events.

What really happens is we drift apart. I even tried making friends with some younger crowds too but it’s a bit weird being the older dude.

As for making new friends with people my own age no one is looking to make friends at this point. Everyone is busy with careers and at best you get surface level activities with someone to do like joining a softball league.

These people don’t end up friends. They’re acquaintances you have a scheduled activity with but making real friends takes time and effort that people my age really don’t have the time for.

It’s so much different when you’re younger and in school wheee you have all the time in the world to talk with people and fuck around doing nothing but chilling.

Yeah I technically have friends that are nowhere near me or have shifted life priorities. You get the occasional trip out or catch up beer with them but it’s not the same whatsoever.

You know, I've actually come to enjoy the entire "acquaintances" thing. Basically people who are relationships out of convenience, and you can still have as much fun with them as you can with friends, but you don't feel any obligations to them whatsoever. If they ever do anything that pisses you off, you just stop talking to them.
