I had to think about my response to this.

I think you're correct if you're saying that there is dignity in providing for yourself and your family even if you have to undermine your own self-worth to do it. I also think you're correct that there is massive inequality in society which is only getting worse and a small proportion of "elite" people are enriching themselves at the expense of everyone else.

However, what I commonly see online is a sort of nihilism that, based on the above 2 precepts, the only thing that matters is making more money.

Let me assure you that your life doesn't end with a victory screen after you become financially independent. Now you have to start asking questions like:

"Where do I go from here?"

"Am I proud of how I got here?"

Sophie is going to have a very tough time answering those questions in the future because of the choices she has made/is making.
