But, in short there are two different economies.

The productive economy, where people pay taxes, which are based off labor. And the financial economy, where people don't pay taxes, which is based on assets.

This is why it's been proposed to implement a tax on assets, because the value of the financial economy dwarfs the productive economy in dollar value.

That is why all the people at the top want to be compensated in stocks, options and other securities.

It's also why the US is always running massive budget deficits.

You need to learn to differentiate income tax and wealth.
When pressed to provide an example, you don't give it, and accuse me just not understanding how the economy really works.

The financial economy has taxes. It is called capital gains. Assets, typically stocks, are taxed when sold. This is pretty basic stuff.

Until stocks and RE decline the upper arm of the K is booming.

Between government safety nets, multi generational housing and the fat that can be cut from every Americans quality of life; the lower K arm can extend a long way.

Considering we are where we are right now after the predictions coming out 3 months ago and the reality in between, I'd say recessions are a thing of the past. Just print BS numbers and pump the market.

Yea, they figured it out. These markets can never crash. But the bottom 90% will have to deal with the hardship of their quality of life being chipped away slowly over time.

The gap is only going to increase, to the point where there is barely a middle class anymore. In fact, we might already be there. I make six figures and still don't consider myself middle class, especially in Canada.

I'm six figures, and it definitely isn't comfortable without playing your cards right.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful, and live within my means, but in no way am I ballin or anything.

I know dumb fucks I work with with 2500, 3200 a month mortgages that are hanging on the tight rope.

Living check to check.

I guess its all how you play your cards these days, but it definitely isn't easy.

That's based on income, not assets. Elon Musk actually has very little income and lots of assets. Rather than selling those assets, which would trigger income tax on the gains, he borrows against them at very low rates. That's why a lot on the left are calling for an asset tax on the very wealthy.

A much better alternative would be to just tax consumption rather than income.

Welfare is not the problem you brainwashed idiots.

Corporate greed and tyranny are.

Where does he get the money from to make the payments on the loan though.... He sells stocks. He then pays capital gains tax, and uses the remaining to pay off the monthly payment.

Taxes are getting paid. Whether he does it all up front, or a few years down the line, he is still paying taxes.

Even if you tax capital gains, assets are taxed at half the rate. And with the amount of loopholes available you're paying next to nothing.

But as you said, you can just borrow against your assets, roll the interest into the principle, and have your heirs inherit your assets with no taxes collected on it.

As long as the fed does away with the risk by constantly bailing out asset markets, and returns keep on surpassing the interest, the loans will sustain the debtor for a life time.

The solutions that need be came to terms with are restructuring debt that weighs down the economy that will never get paid back, and doing away with the income tax.

Just want to add that I agree with the tax based on consumption system. Also that asset tax is just another name for asset confiscation. Basically a new way of saying you will own nothing and be happy.

I almost moved there when Covid started. Really wish I had because that state keeps doing everything right.

And I've owned precious metals for years. Physical and digital.
