If you've been single for years and you've been paying rent then you've been playing the game all wrong. You didn't have a child, I mean girlfriend to entertain, so your money should've been poured into the S&P500 to get those sweet compounding gains.

You bought cars in cash but didn't have enough emergency funds so used loans on a credit card to cover daily expenses

Bruh

Car loan rates are like 2-4x lower than credit card rates. You would be better off financing the car

They're lower because they have the car title and can just repo.it. the CC they have to sue you to recover

Moving 18k out of investments to pay off CC would be a hiccup along the journey but it will pay off in the long term. Most cc debt is 20+% so get rid of it asap.

The car is a double edge sword. 400/month plus insurance, maintenance, fuel etc, it’s prob closer to 700/month.

Get rid of it and get something either ultra reliable that sips fuel, think used Corolla or if you can used Tesla, model 3/Y are essentially zero maintenance other than tires.

Once that’s paid off, put whatever you are saving into a Jepq/qqqi that pays dividends monthly, whatever you get reinvest back into it.

Shop around for other jobs, even just getting rejected helps gets your interview skills sharper, potentially landing you a better gig.

$30k was from a 401k. Id be penalized and heavily taxed and have to start over from square one.

I'm getting desperate and wish I could make more money. $83k feels measly and I don't really buy luxury items.
At 36 you should have $1M bucks in the bank by now. Unfortunately you haven't been taking care of business since you started working. You chose to spend and consume rather than save and invest. You have to start early. You will be working until age 70 if you are lucky enough to keep a job until then. No way to sugarcoat it.

When it comes to cars if you absolutely don't want to buy used because you have terrible luck. And don't care what you drive. You can find lease deals where you pay just 150-200 a month. I'm generally against leasing but if you can get a little Civic, Hyundai or Kia leased for $200 or less per month that's not a bad deal. Especially considering gas will be cheap in those. Just google around and see what you can find.

Once you have that start doordashing or something on your time off to earn extra money. Put literally everything you can onto your debt to knock it out ASAP. Then continue to work extra gigs and build up a stacked savings account. A 6 month emergency fund in a high yield savings account. After that. Start dumping money into investments.

The $2600 was worth it since it'll be 100+ heat index. Also didn't have to use credit cards.
Wait, why is the SUV $400/mo if it’s old and high mileage? I thought this was a newer vehicle.

Don’t sell it if you’d be fucked on transportation. If you’re upside down or if it’s depreciated, I guess it makes more sense to keep it until it fails. But if you can get >$10k trading it in today, you’d be better off buying a cheaper used Japanese sedan or similar car. I honestly would not have spent $2600 to fix the air conditioning. Guessing those are dealership prices.

When I paid off my car it was one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever felt srs. My goal is to never have a car payment again for the rest of my life. Maybe unrealistic considering my current salary, but if I can keep my Mazda running for another few years, I’ll be very happy.

$1 million at age 36 is unrealistic for the average man. That’s more of a FIRE target. Conventional wisdom says 1.5x your annual salary should be put away for retirement by 35. For most, that’s only low six figures.

I honestly believe I could “retire” debt free on $250k relying on certain dividend stocks (covered call ETFs) and supplementing with part time (less than 10hrs per week) work doing something modest like arbitrage or data annotation.

It takes less than most people think.

I don't think you understand the extent of how lazy, stupid, and entitled OP is.

He didn't answer what the Interest rate was on the credit cards

He probably doesn't actually know

He should intimately know that for each and every one of them if he's serious about getting out of debt

$400 car payment for a gas guzzling truck is just dumb. and you wonder how you ended up in this predicament.

should be driving a Corolla or a Civic.

how much money are you wasting on Goysl0p?

go through your expenses and cut them and direct more to investments.

Why do you need something that requires a $400/month payment though? I make a respectable income, and when I needed a new car (was in an accident because some sloot made a left turn in front of me on a snowy morning) - I just went and bought a used Camry for slightly under $10k. My car before that was a Corolla that I'd gotten for 8.5k, and had it for almost 10 years with practically no issues prior to the accident.

The credit card debt thing...that's bad and you need to prioritize getting rid of that.
