When a family has hundreds of billions (or trillions) of dollars, they have their hand in the pie of everything from media to government agencies to corporate America. When they get to decide and pass things like TPP recently (which you probably haven't even heard about) then it affects every single person in the country. What you see on the news is decided to certain families, what gets passed by government is decided by certain families, what corporations decide to do with jobs is decided by certain families.

Everyone should care when rich families get to decide what you see on TV (same corporations run all the major news outlets), what gets passed off as education in school (DoE is a government agency that controls education in this country) and what gets passed as legislation (NAFTA, TPP, CISPA, NSA spying programs, etc). These affect EVERYONE. By everyone, that means you too.

This has everything to do with money. If people didn't care about it then they wouldn't give a **** about the millions/billions of dollars they're supposedly lobbying to politicians. Here's the deal, wage earners will always be the ones who get screwed, always. To make money, to make a difference, you have to be a business owner or invest to acquire a substantial amount of money. Once you get yourself into that realm, things change and you have some pull.
