But...the friction would just slow the car down. If you assume that they're both going 200mph whilst taking all the variables (such as friction) into account, they're both going the exact same speed

The friction doesn't slow the car down. It just requires more energy to power the car. They're still going 200 MPH regardless of variables or friction. 200MPH is 200MPH regardless if it's floating through space or plowing through your mothers sugar walls.

Yeah I get that. But op is claiming that despite both the car and train plowing through my mothers sugar walls at 200 MPH, the train is going faster because there is less friction and it's more aerodynamic. The car may require more energy to overcome these variables but they're still going the exact same speed, train isn't going faster

The train builds up to 200 mph faster than the average car, but if they're both going 200 mph then they're exactly equivalent in speed.

At first I was thinking the train cuz of less drag but then I thought about the car and the fact that it has an exhaust pipe out the back that helps propel the car forward and due to this feature, the car is quicker.

It's the same speed lol at this roll bread. Even if there is less friction on the magnetic railway, they're traveling at the same velocity. So the magnetic train is not faster than the car....

Once again misc goes full potato in a thread like this (at least for the responses that aren't troll responses aka maybe 5 of them)

Once it is explicitly stated that both objects are going 200 MPH consistently, nothing else matters because the current speed is already taking all other factors such as friction, weight, etc. into consideration.

If it takes both objects exactly 60 minutes to cover 200 miles, both objects will reach the 200 mile mark at the exact same time. One might require more fuel than the other as a result of the circumstances, but that has no bearing on the question asked.

The car will not travel in a perfectly straight line, since it has to be steered, so those little right and left movements will cause it to lose forward distance and speed. A train, however, is on a perfectly straight track so it will be traveling under optimal conditions to travel the furthest distance the fastest, regardless of speed.

the question also didnt state the car wasn't going perfectly straight like the train is
