Just so you guys know this isn't a Musk original theory or something.

The idea of 'reality' actually being a simulation was brought up in a serious manner by some professor at a famous university and I believe was one of those "its silly but impossible to disprove while also having sounds 'logic'" type of thought experiments.

heres a published paper about it (2003)

http://www.simulation-argument.com/simulation.html

not sure if Nick Bostrom was the first to write an actual scientific paper about this but I would not be surprised.

But yea, This aint a musk idea/theory its just something that been bouncing around in academia for a bit.

If anyone is seriously interested in knowing more about the topic:

Original paper from Nick Bostrom, professor at Oxford:http://www.simulation-argument.com/simulation.pdf

Other papers (by himself and others) about the argument can be found on his website:http://www.simulation-argument.com/

Now we have like 8 core processors with 4.0 ghz.
It's not a human race thing though, it's evolution in general.

Compared to the age of the universe everything we deem important (in terms of land) has happened in a short time. It appears to be accelerating.

Inb4 our God/Muhammad/Buddha/IntelligentCreator/etc turns out to be a some gigantic pretween Alien a few billion years young jerking off to his creation in his mom's basement.

edit: Ive heard this theory before. Would not surprise me. Maybe its like real life Matrix and humans plugged themselves long ago, to escape a dystopian past. Or we are on a spaceship right now traveling to a new world. Fuk man Idk.

I assume everyone knew that. I've been hearing about this most of my life, it's just now it appears relatively plausible.

This. It's also a very plausible theory. For what purpose are we living in a sim? I guess that's the real question.

Here's a relevant video that breaks it down:

This actually brings up a good question to ask... If we live in a sim, why haven't we found any bugs yet?

Sick video! Whether people believe it or not it sure is an interesting theory. Everyone whose saying Elons crazy and makes no sense, well he is crazy but the thoery does make some good points and he's not the only genius to believe in it. Could bugs be something like cancer and disease? I dunno I'm still learning up on the theory.

Another video, very long (50 min).

I didn't go the STEM route, so I can't judge it very well, but I remember it being entertaining.

Fukkin lol at humans coming up with any left field theory to give themselves a reason for living on a rock floating in space. First religion, now we in a video game sim created by a supreme intelligence. Narcissism is a hell of a drug, and it's too bad I can't afford whatever Musk is smoking.

That's so awesome to hear. When I first played GTA V I was surprised as how graphics have come a long way and how that GTA world operated. Made me believe that maybe we ARE in a simulation by higher intelligence

In all honesty, like some posters in this thread mentioned...

Why can't people come to the terms that we were an accident? Earth was a big rock and eventually had the grounds to create life. Now, I'm not saying we didn't have help somewhere along the road (aliens) -- but why can't reality be what it is now? Maybe im just bugged or getting hacked.

edit: Not hating on the theory, just conversing.

If it was an accident how come we can't recreate simple life from non-life in a lab?

ITs quite possible, what the hell is reality anyway, just electical signals in our brains.

Who knows if we are not all connected to a grid system, like a network.
