Life is full of rejection's these are the least things you should worry about, the real world is so much tougher then that. What this kid did is out of order must have had terrible social skills or no communications with his family what so ever to commit such a disgusting crime.

It's likely they will try to show that the parents saw abnormal behavior and didn't seek help for him, or, saw warning signs of the murder. It's all for civil (monetary) purposes.

But, failing as parents =/= civil or criminal culpability. At 36 I'd think you have a bit of life experience -- surely you've seen good people with kids that turn out like chit?

In my experience it's typically with parents who have like 4 kid or more. All of them turn out fine and then there's the one LDAR/criminal/screw up of some kind
