Theyre both great players but human at the same time. It was Messi's 1st miss in a penalty shootout. **** happens. A lot of times, Ronaldo wont do jack squat the entire match but will score a goal last minute to cover up his non existent play.

considering the sort of talent in the argentina squad, it makes you question how messi would perform in another club team

you would have expected him to have won at least one international tournament with the likes of di maria, higuain, mascherano, tevez, aguero, zabaleta, cambiasso, samuel, otamendi, riquelme, ayala, veron etc over the years

euros is definitely more competitive than copa america and it makes you appreciate the contributions of the spanish barcelona players who have done it at club and international level consistently

brb Romania, Albania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Ireland, Northern Ireland

lmao

Copa was way more competitive and more entertaining than Euros have been so far, teams were actually going for it in every single match instead of parking the bus and playing for draws

Also notice how Iniesta took Spain to 2 Euros and a WC, scoring the winning goal in the final?
I didn't say anything about Iniesta and what he did for Spain, that is not what this is about....you are the one saying Messi cannot succeed without Iniesta

I pointed out that Messi got to the WC final....I don't remember Iniesta in midfield for Argentina in 2014

I called it since Argentina's first game on the tournament. They dont play like a team, they rely on Messi to do something GOATTY or they struggle to make one decent chance. Unless Messi had another GOAT performance it was always gonna be Chile's match.

But honestly its laughable as fuk that people bring CR7 into this discussion. Dude hasnt even won a game in the euros lmao. Forever under Messi's shadow.

Its very simple, both played for Argentina and Barcelona. One GOATed it up for Argentina, but failed miserably at Barcelona, coundlt lay off the coke, was a nutcase and was sold to a strong Napoli team that would later win the UEFA CUP (lulz).

The other one became Barcelona's icon, and will forever be the most important name for Barcelona's club, and has played very good with Argentina (broke all the individual records) but his teammates never gave him rope, unlike Maradona's teammates.

Its bad timing to discuss this because most people are short minded retards, but honestly Messi has had the much more succesful career.

first off there is nothing wrong with parking the bus, each team has to play to their strengths

tactic are a huge part of top level football and i would watch indoor football if i wanted to see end to end football all the time

also the likes of Hungary and Wales topped their groups while Poland and Iceland came second, so not all small nations have been pushovers this year

YES EUROS IS MORE COMPETITIVE THAN COPA AMERICA

out of 24 European teams I can mention 8 teams (Spain, Italy, Germany, France, England, Belgium, Portugal, Croatia) who could win this year but out of the 16 in Copa America there were only 4 realistic contenders (Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile)

for most of the 20th century South Americans and Europeans could go head to head but over the past 20 years the world cup has been dominated by European teams

In the CL, you play several of the best clubs in Europe, formed by the best players in the world, who play and train together EVERY DAY. To win a CL you have to go past several well oiled elite machines.

In the WC, which happens every 4 years btw (lol), its played with teams formed by players who rarely if ever play together, with a coach that only gets to have them a few days a year. One bad game, or one stupid mistake a teammate makes, and you are out, there is no second leg, just have to wait 4 years and hope.

Plus, its 3 CL titles, and a bunch of other important titles that Maradona simply doenst get close to. Club football makes up for 90% of a player's career, naturally club football is more relevant dumbass.

Lawd, all accomplishments mean NOTHING if you don't show up when your team needs you the most.

Period.

Messi being GOAT with a GOAT team in Barca means nothing lmfao. Goals being served up on a silver platter to you. So impressive.
Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. The few hours we talked were really great even if the convo was stale, your really pretty and chill, and your country thats just perfect :'D i really dont know how to explain it, but i think i have feelings for you somehow. i never felt like this with someone i just met, but i felt the need to get it off my chest. sorry for being all weird just idk how to explain it D:

the delusions are real, maradona played in a time where defenders were hacking down attackers for fun and refs were way more lenient, he also played against your baresis and gentiles meanwhile messi playing against some scrub form levante

Never seen such delusion from football fans, all being Messi fans[/QUOTE]You give up because your argument was destroyed lol. And yeah that was the greatest goal in the world cup history, thats why Maradona is an argentinian legend. Messi is a Barcelona legend because he has a bunch of brutal legendary epic goals in important times as well, even more than Maradona. Dat goal against Bilbao last year on the cup final, against prime Boateng leaving him on the floor like a retarded kid and finishing the best keeper in the world with a beautiful touch, that solo goal at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid in CL semi finals which finished Mourinho's Madrid, etc.

If you are going to go on that route, you are hanging yourself dumbass

Just ran into this thread.... lmao Messi nuthuggers going hard to defend their man.

Best player in the world, but you can't be the GOAT while getting cucked by Germany in every WC and Chile in two Copa America finals sorry lol.

Let's not forget Argentina beat Chile 2-1 without Messi in their group stage encounter. That says it all right there.

Also, why bring up Ronaldo?
I mean if Messi can't win do shiet with Argentina that has a WC player in just about every position what do you *******s think he'd do with the garbage quality Portugal has? Fukin lol just face it Alexis cucked Messi tonight and outperformed him.

One bad game, or one stupid mistake a teammate makes, and you are out, there is no second leg, just have to wait 4 years and hope.

Plus, its 3 CL titles, and a bunch of other important titles that Maradona simply doenst get close to. Club football makes up for 90% of a player's career, naturally club football is more relevant dumbass.
although I agree that players football careers are mostly played at club level you can't deny the prestige of international glory

you ask Messi or Ronaldo if they could swap a CL for WC and they wouldn't think twice

wealth and your ability to use your resources to attract the best players plays a huge role at club level

at international level you can't weaken your competitors by buying their players! it's all about talent, national pride and passion

Messi is GOAT at club level but as it stands he will never be Argentina's football god
follow random girls on insta crew
wait until they are in a relationship to slide in their DM's crew

Dat goal against Bilbao last year on the cup final, against prime Boateng leaving him on the floor like a retarded kid and finishing the best keeper in the world with a beautiful touch, that solo goal at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid in CL semi finals which finished Mourinho's Madrid, etc.

If you are going to go on that route, you are hanging yourself dumbass

Game set match *******.

LOL strong fukin arguments, brb Messi only plays against Levante and **** teams like that and Maradona only played against maldini and ther legendary defenders.

Logic of peace.
am i wrong?

start from 11:00, shyt maradona had to face was brutal meanwhile messi prances around the pitch and if anyone slightly touches him it's a straight red

Thats why he will be the GOAT everywhere except in Argentina. Cant really blame him for the finals lost since his whole team always depends on him doing something GOATLY while others fuk it up, but i can at least understand the frustration coming from argie brahs.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."
