I was groomsman for my cousins wedding - he had 2 groomsman and 1 best man.

Our suits were $479 each, my cousin covered it.

As the groomsman and best man - we covered his bucks trip to NZ, we went on a 10 day bucks trip and covered everything for him. It was part of our gift to him. We each spent easily about $1,000 ontop of our own spending fees for this.

He just moved into a new house and it needed renovating before the wedding. Our wedding gift to him was to take charge of his renovations and complete it for him. He paid for all materials, we did the reno because we've all got trade backgrounds - it saved him around $8000-10,000 by us doing it over a 2 month period.

We also bought him a surprise BBQ at the end.

I come from a culture were family/friends are very close and spending on them isn't something we think twice about - unless they're kunts ofc.

TBH - it should've been made clear from day 1 - who pays for what. Paying for socks is embarrassing as ****, and if he's going to be a **** mate and u don't mind ending the friendship, post the email to ******** and shame him.

Cost you almost a grand to watch your sh*tty friend get married. Yikes.

I think the groom's bros should be covering the bachelor party. But the wedding shouldn't cost them a dime. The groom invites them and plans all this ****gy sh*t like making everyone wear matching suits; then the groom should cough up the dough. Can't afford it? Don't have an extravagant f*cking wedding then.

oh lawd; I get rustled when a welcoming party is thrown for a new co-worker and get a follow up email to cover the 3$ split. It's not the 3/$ that rustle me, it's the invite w/o prior knowledge of the cover.

It's like, you're all invited, let's get as many ppl. as we can, but then they do a bait and switch.

Here's the literal email I got from him:

"The suits were $550 each, but we were able to get 20% off the whole order, so they were $440, plus $5 tax for a total of $445. My brother picked up the shirts and ties for you guys, which were $83 a man. The lobster socks and pocket squares were my gift to you (in addition to lifelong friendship and the promise to stand with each of you when your time comes), so don't worry about those.

That shakes out to $528"
