lol just because they have a population of 1.2b doesn't mean chit. They have less active athletes than countries like the UK, USA etc. China would be just as poverty if they didn't start breeding athletes from birth in the most inhumane ways. There's no money, sponsors etc for these Indian athletes. You guys act like there's billion dollar state of the art training facilities were thousands of Indians train 6+ hours a day like in every other country, no that simply doesn't happen. India literally got their first gymnast this year. How can you expect them to do well when they don't train for it.

it has nothing to do with individual ability or skill, it all revolves around money.

We won 2 silver and 4 bronze last time. This time lucked out ! still hoping for a few medals where govt. does not support any atheletes. I'd love to see people winning medals from othr countries where you get 3 dollars /day for diet expenses.

Apart from cricket they're just not into sport

Would they even win medals if they poured money into training people? Maybe... sheer weight of numbers and the law of averages gets them there. Typical Indian doesn't look very athletic though. What they need is to focus on one single event and find teenagers with promise - then build them into world beaters. Start low key with badminton or fencing

my friend in school was indian and he was really good at soccer.

But his dad wouldn't sign the permission slip for him to play to represent the school. When we would play at lunch and sometimes after school dude was a straight up wizard, probably the best in our school, but he was never allowed to play for our team.


I think many indians dont value sports much, and value education career and status over sports.

pretty conceded as a sports star will have a higher status, make more money than a doctor
