I think I gotta be top 5 with my quality informative axe posts.



Take this one for example, 1900-1930s produced by Plumb Mfg Co, it depicts a famous Australian Peter McLaren chopping some wood, dude was the Arnold of the woodchopping world. I hung it on a hand carved Red Elm handle with Black Walnut laminated at the swell at the end, and a hickory wedge, with a mirrored edge. During the early 1900s before the war, acid etching was a popular process used on many different axes as a form of advertisement, there are a ton of hardware store chains who would buy a bulk amount of axes, in return for a custom etch on it, which would help promote their store. For some reason this was popular with Boys shoe companies, who had several hatchets etched, Buster Brown Shoes, Poll Parrot Shoes, Red Goose Shoes just to name a few. Another of my favorites is a Candy and Tobacco store from Saint Louis that was called King Bee. Don't see Candy-Tobacco hybrid stores anymore. - Thanks Obama.
