They don't even offer the "real" base models here in the US.

Lowest trim 5 series you can get would be a 528i with like 18" wheels, leather, and quite a lot of features.

You guys have like 6 different engines for each model!

I was talking about price, not driving dynamics.
Short selling is a business widely unpopular with everyone who has a stake in seeing stock prices go up.

Damn. BMW and Merc in USA are also cheap as fuk.

A 340i with full options costs 70k euro's here which is like 85k US dollars

BMW has discovered they dont need to do anything for the 3 series now. It can be shet and people will still buy it. And the 3 series is where they make their money so skimping on that car is the most efficient way to make money

Why do people buy fully loaded economy cars? Remember the Infiniti G20, sentra with leather trim, but cost about 50% more than a Nissan Sentra.

I don't care if it's a base model or the top of the line, if you are driving any vehicle as a status symbol you have already lost at life. Paying all that money trying to influence what other people think when in reality they really don't give a damn.

200 HP wew

TBH I might be getting an S3 which is base AF, but only if I get a 2016 for 35k. Stage one apparently gives it a sub 4 second 0-60 so it'll be a fun little economical commute car.

Yup yup

What I also find is most people don't care about 0-60 numbers, handling, or power adders. What they need is an aesthetically( to them) pleasing car that gets good mileage.

I own an m235 convertible. I guess that is entry level.

I'm an old guy and can afford any car in BMWs line up (no ebrag). I wanted a small fun convertible, paid cash for the car and I really don't give a f*** what people think about the car I drive...

I went into purchase the m4 convertible because I always wanted an M3 convertible. After a test drive it felt like an aircraft carrier and I had more fun in M235. I have no idea why the size of cars keep increasing...

why didn't you get the M2 if you were cross shopping an M4?

I'd get a 240i instead of an S3 but the lack of rear doors is a deal breaker in case I ever need to drive fam/kids around

There is no M2 convertible
There was no M2 when I purchased 14 months ago...even if there was an M2 I still would have purchased the M235 for the vert.

Someone who buys an entry level e9x which would be 320i, they could afford a top level honda s2k. Some people don't care about speed and just want status.

Hope you're not serious. Don't be one of those people who buy a 335i because its TTed and has 305hp, do your homework and you better have a couple thousand saved up and you better get used to always having your car at the shop because 335i's are unreliable as ****

Some just want a new car without all of the crazy costs associated with the larger models. Mercedes c class to have one but not pay e class brake change prices.

Those higher end BMW / Mercedes are usually big. The entry level stuff are still great, just smaller, which makes it easier to park.

Some of us buy it because of the handling, and because a greater price tag - or 'nicer car' is unreasonable

Have a base model 128i - I can't imagine a car with better handling than this one. Really nice car for single men.
