I did grace with a 130 lb keg with my strongman Saturday group. I got 15 in about 40 seconds but my lower back locked up since I had deadlifted the day before.
PRs:
Squat: 630 (sleeves)
Deadlift: 735 (straps)
Strict OHP: 330
Log Clean & Press: 360
Gave stickyashell hope and now he's back in strength sports crew

I won't have a shoulder day anytime soon but maybe I'll do this before squats on leg day as a warm-up.

Not sure how many times I can press 135 overhead lol. Maybe the momentum from the clean will make it easier.

Shaw didn't even clean it up.. he just picked it up like it was a toy barbell

From my 40 second set, I can tell you it's not your OHP that's the limiting factor. 100% cardio.

Last shoulder workout I finished the end of a pyramid on standing strict barbell with 135x20 without coming close to failure.

If nothing else, stick it in at the end of a workout like I did today, that way it doesn't fatigue you out for whatever you had planned.

Thursday I'll try to start fresh with it though.

You potentially could have got more if you didnt keep resetting each rep from the ground and basically clean and jerking, but good job, some of the end reps were push presses but GJ still and mirin outfit

Do you never do clean presses? It just didn't look like you were very comfortable with the movement.

Interdasting, I never would have thought experienced lifters would have somehow avoided these.

I have 0 interest in weightlifting, crossfit, ect.. but I always saw them as a fun modification to OHP'ing (maybe more hang cleans).

I've cleaned about 10x ever. add to the fact that was no warmup it was tough. it didn't hurt or anything like that though.

I'm confused, I've seen people doing push presses (where leg drive is used) and then banana was doing strict OHP after clean.

Wut do?

It's not technically a clean, you're right. If you have that strength and you're lifting 135 it's definitely more efficient because he's simplified the movement to a power snatch which in this crossfit world, is probably still valid.

When I hear clean press for time I automatically assume minor leg drive to make reps more speedy.

I would only assume strict if it were mentioned "clean and strict press"

Just try a few first. I'd bet you can throw the weight straight overhead like the Poundstone or Shaw video

Depends on the person

I get nothing out of OHP and don't do them at all

I fully support this. I'll have to pick participating in these sparingly on accounta behind a few compromised joints but this is awesome.

I'm glad we got a submission yesterday, too. Looking forward to more. Think we could get Bustacapp, Proudmanlet and Catbrah to participate (to name a few)?
