I live in a new neighborhood and half the houses aren't complete yet, so I barely saw any kids out. It was dead.

I don't particularly care for other people's children.

As I said before, I would do it because it's not her fault, but i still see it as a dick move on the dad's part to try rope everyone into this activity with your kid just because you are on the same flight.

It it was something necessary, that's one thing, but it's trick or treating, just don't do it for one year, or arrange something when you get home.

Flights aren't particularly fun, I'm trying to make the best of it, I don't want to hear a kid say trick or treat 100 times, I don't particularly want to be approached by them, and i definitely don't want to hear the sugar high or crash happening.

Worst thing is, with it being so publicized and everyone saying how sweet it is it could lead to a whole bunch of people thinking this kind of thing is a good idea, and I definitely do not want to be pestered by a bunch of kids on a plane at Halloween or any other occasion.

It's like an extreme version of thinking everyone wants to see 350 pictures of your kids.

Not trying to change your mind or force my views on you, but a father, who as the article states wants to remain anonymous, asking you for a second of your time to make memories for his family, bothers you?

EDIT: I know some of us have different views on holidays/customs because we were raised differently or are from different places with different customs, but i thought little things like this brought smiles to everyone's face lmao

I wasn't on the flight so it doesn't bother me. But I can atleast put myself in the position of a few other people on that flight who'd have preferred a peaceful journey rather than being guilt-tripped, or shamed into entertaining a random child. Why should they? The guy knows of none of their personal circumstances, yet still feels entitled to their time as a dancing monkey for his kid. And parents wonder why people think they're entitled. Thats all I'm saying.

Both. I wouldn't rage. I'd ignore the request or politely decline. Not a fan of kids, and if you've been on a flight where parents allow their kids to run rampant and kick your seat when you're trying to sleep you'd probably feel similar.

Re the second part; Gender doesn't make a difference. I think parents should teach their kids manners and respect for other people's privacy and peace. And not expect anything they want, when they want.

a) entitlement is entitlement, regardless of gender
b) I care not one bit about his holiday observances. If an Indian person had their child handing out snacks to everybody on that plane for Diwali, or a Muslim person had their child running around wishing everyone a Happy Ramadan, this would be a very different discussion.

He should have at least had enough candy for the people to keep a piece for themselves. I feel that it was in poor taste to ask for it back, stingy at least. Nevertheless, I certainly wouldn't have had a problem making the little kid's day, but it's not something I personally would ever ask of a bunch of passengers. It seems a bit obnoxious to bother everyone just so your kid can go trick or treating up and down the aisle. There's a time and place for everything.
