Well typically I look angry when lifting alone because I hold in all of the things that irritate me and piss me off throughout the day and release it at the gym. it's therapy.

I do that as opposed to getting drunk on weeknights, watching netflix, or complaining on social media about my life issues.

I think what happens is, huge bodybuilders want to look intimidating and unapproachable, the enjoy the power trip, it's a rush ''look at me, I'm huge and I can kick your ass, you better be afraid of me'', they love it when they sense fear in others, and if you are not afraid of them, they see that as a sign of disrespect

I only get drunk on thirsty Thursday's which is very standard tbh

Would take a gym full of Hi-C consuming angry-looking-as-fak meatheads over a gym full of fat fuarks taking up a squat rack while posting selfies on Instagram.

I seriously saw a dude doing one armed lat pull downs while texting at the same time. New Years fuarktards already invading the gym.

OP: You're mistaking a serious demeanor with an angry demeanor. But yeah, some guys take it too serious.

Its mostly insecure guys who act like that. Its a front they do for attention and to look "cool". Deep inside they are thinking

"OMG I LOOK SO HARDCORE, IS ANYONE LOOKING AT ME?! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!, IM GOING TO PRETEND I DONT CARE"

thats why you always see them glancing over at everyone, to see how much attention.

Usually the shorter teched out guys who do that. Usually have lifted trucks or sports cars too

This. Esp when you're in the zone or lifting heavy. I used to be like that. People wouldn't talk to me, said this one guy. But once they get to know you, you're just a cool guy.

I'm one of these people OP describes.

It's because I'm pumped up on pre-workout and if someone talks to me or I slow down and rest the caffeine will wear off. So don't fkn talk to me until I finished my workout. I want to keep my heart rate up. The angry srs face is so people don't talk to me.

They are just focused, if you talk to them you'd realize they are actually the nicest people you will ever meet srs.

The biggest guys at my gym have resting angry faces but when I talked to them they were really chill and super nice.

It's the skinny *******s at the gym who are annoying to me. I guess the skinny kids compensate for their lack of muscle by acting like they wanna fight someone all the time.

People have told me I look too serious at the gym esp when I am zoned in. Not a big guy myself but I don't like to socialize at the gym unless I am with my friends at the gym but I will smile and greet you if I am approached. I generally just fistbump people I know at the gym. I socialize with strangers at work, bars, pub, and outside of gym all the time. To me it's like pooping in public bathrooms, I want to poop alone and in silence. Hate people who try to start conversations in public stalls.

Lol at insecurities, look cool and tryhardness, the fact you guys judge, assume, and think that way. It's really you projecting your own insecurities towards other people. Esp this is coming from notbadnotbrad, just fking lol. You are what you think.

Do your own thing, mind your own business. They are probably zoned in, not giving a single fk. Whereas you *******s who don't even lift, goes on a bodybuilding forum and makes a post about it lol. Think about it, who is the insecure one, do you guys even think about your own thought process sometimes? Teen misc >>>>>

Some people just have a pissed off neutral facial expression, also the high testosterone, heavy lifting + high protein/caloric diet will usually effect your brow ridge and muscles in the face, creating a more androgenic/aggressive look. It's the high T brah. also us hardcore lifters are usually so focused on dat progressive overload that we are literally psyching ourselves up as if our lives depended on it. You def cannot achieve this while looking happy/joyful.

The gym is one of those places where "gonna stick with it this time" types, average goers that want to keep a few pounds at bay, intermediate trainers and aspiring athletes all come together and use the same space. Clearly there are a lot more types that can be found in this environment but the people driven to do just enough get an opportunity to spectate and judge those that are driven to do a lot more.

It reminds of a bowling alley in the way that a lot of people occasion with friends, some people frequent to see if they can improve their score and maybe join a league and then you have the guys with wrist gear, their own shoes and custom balls that are throwing rockets every turn, and you know some otherwise disinterested chucklehead is going to get his laughs judging someone else's enthusiasm for something he doesn't take as seriously. "It's just bowling, brah hahahaha #notmypassion".

Clearly the juiced up gorillas walking around mean mugging the world have ruffled a few pairs itt.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.
