Cheap shoes won't last very long. You don't need to buy $200+ nike sneakers, but you should also avoid spending a ridiculously small amount.

Spent $8k on the engagement ring and $2k on the wedding band. Spent $250 on my wedding band because I think dudes that wear jewelry are ghey.

My wife had her grandmothers big ass diamond already so i just had to get it set for around 600 bucks. Worth about 8 to 10k now

Lol the whole thing is a marketing scam by DeBeers. Artificial values propped up by buying up any/all mines and hording inventory and then controlling the flow of diamonds to be sold. It's a serious racket....look into it. Back in the day, proposing with a ring wasn't even a thing. A couple generations later, it's expected. Fuk that.

It's all crazy expensive and unneccesarily so. We ended up getting married super cheap and small and we'll never regret it. I don't know what is more useless of an expenditure, the ring or a big expensive wedding.

Five years ago this week, I put a 18 carat gold band on my GF's finger and told her I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but we wouldn't be getting married.

It cost $400

This morning, she let me sleep in and took the dogs to the beach, before waking me with a coffee and put Vikings on Netflix

Am I doing it right?

wedding ring or engagement ring?

I'm getting married in 2 weeks. I used the diamond from my mother's ring and with a new gold setting it was $1200. The wedding band for her was $800 I believe. I'm getting a silicon wedding ring that cost me $25 (srs)

The cost is all relative. I was in OP boat when I was young too. Over time I realized not everything is so absolute. There are a lot of things you pay for that you don't get benefit from.

My wife didn't care what kind of ring she got. She was making good money and still driving around in a beater Honda.

I dropped what I was comfortable with. Which was $35k on the engagement ring.

it happens a lot, i have a family member who has a 15k+ ring. Only reason i know is because i said it looked fake. Me personally as a guy i have a couple rings valued over 1k, they were all passed down to me from my grandfather though. Wouldnt spend that much on a ring. A watch or chain i would.

No, all her GFs are really down to earth really. They are also all pretty established.....neurologist, anasthesiologist, ER doc, etc. some have $10k rings, some have $80k rings. It's whatever

Any woman that expects an expensive ring isnt worth it. Its an extension of special snowflake princess syndrome.
