I don't know how you fools can compare the Texas Roadhouse to a menu like this:

I actually don't think there is a better use for $100 than a perfect steak at a top steakhouse, some amazing appetizer, and a couple cocktails.

Maybe $100 in Amsterdam but that's about it

If you go to a nice ass place, that same steak they serve you would still be expensive at a high quality butcher. Yes, you'll pay a lot more at the steakhouse, but it's not like they're serving you some Sizzler steak for 5x the cost.

Having someone cook your steak or cooking one for someone else is a crap shoot, everyone likes them certain ways and some are very picky. I prefer to cook my own but if a place has really good reviews I'd give it a try.
I never try anything I just do it!

Exceptions to the rule. I love steak houses. Most are over priced sht. That's the point. I live in a tourist area saturated with sht steak houses and very few legit ones. I'm sure Texas and some more Western steer country states have many more real steak houses. Virginia does not. It's about location and availability to product. Hell, I grew up with a family that slaughtered steer every year for meat in Ohio

You are right, 100 isn't that much. Start doing it regularly and it definitely adds up though.

I would honestly rather go to Chipotle 10 times than a steak house once.

99% of high end Western food restaurants are pretentious, snobby, overpriced, under-taste, seasonless, flavorless, status food.

You go there to say you went there and paid large amount of money. That's it.

If you were actually looking for TASTE and FLAVOR, you would have went to a Vietnamese restaurants, spend 9 dollars on a large bowl of Pho/Bun/Rice dish and would have had the most bang for your buck in the world.

Not saying that they're bad, it's just for the price you pay, it doesn't live up to the expectation..

The only steak that lives up to the hype is kobe... Absolutely melt in your mouth perfection..

A steak from Texas Roadhouse is on par with most of these '$$$$ Steakhouses'
I only been to one fancy steakhouses i think the steak was like $50-100 bucks... not sure as my friend was paying for my birthday but it was such a dissapointmet i couldnt even hide it. The steak had no flavor or special sauces ....it was like they cut a piece of meet from the cow and put it on the grill. Yes it was cooked to perfection but it had no flavor.

Disagree OP

The temperature in the broilers at good steakhouses got to a higher temperature than what you have at home, that char you get (while having a juicy red center) is almost impossible to get.

So you just don't like beef then? Or like it well done, requiring added sauces for flavor?

Good cut of meat cooked below medium will have all the flavor you need.

Brazilian steakhouses (Rodizios) are probably the best in terms of $ to food ratio. You usually pay a flat fee and then you get access to a lot of different meats that waiters bring to you (as much as you want or as you can handle). Some also have a open buffet of side dishes to make you get full on carbs to get you to eat less meat.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod%C3%ADzio
The following foods are often served at a churrascaria:

Filet mignon chunks wrapped in bacon
Turkey chunks wrapped in bacon (these two are usually two-bite sized)
Sirloin steak (cut semicircular and served in slices)
Roast beef (served like sirloin steak)
Rump cover (called picanha in Portuguese)
Beef short ribs
Lamb
Pork ribs
Chourio or some other spicy Iberian pork sausage
Chicken hearts
Grilled dark-meat chicken
Grilled pineapple or banana (meant as a palate cleanser between courses)

Brazilian Steakhouses are nice quality/quantity ratio, but if you just want meat for food, Korean BBQ places rule.
$10-15 for all you can eat beef is pretty hard to beat.

Steak in western countries just seems to be worse in general. Ive been to a few highly rated places in the US, Europe and Aus and they all just seem to be lacking flavor.

Best steak I have ever had was in Brazil, cooked at home in their BBQ. The taste was just out of this world, never had anything like it anywhere outside of south America.

This is brutal steak red pills for poverty americans LMAO.

They are so proud of their snobbery steak culture, but the sad reality is, Argentina, Brazil, and especially Japan, ALL do steak 100x better.

Fkn inbreds honestly think you don't need to season a steak just because it costs 70 dollars for a cut.

OK, Brasil nor Argentina have better readily available than the U.S. AUS and Japan have good beef, too though.

That being said-if spending $150 at dinner is a stretch for you, don't do it. That's fine. But don't say that Texas Roadhouse ****ty baseball glove steak is comparable to a wagyu ribeye at a fine steakhouse. It just isn't. Steakhouses are not my go-to high end dining, I prefer tasting menus, but a premium steakhouse can do things you can't do at home-mainly because you don't have the grills/ovens that reach the heat that theirs do.

There is no law, federal or state that says you cannot associate the label of Kobe or Waygu in you menu so a lot of people put down its "kobe" or "waygu". When in fact it isn't.

Furthermore only around 3k lbs of Kobe in ever exported....

Today only nine businesses in the U.S. serve the real thing, according to the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association. They include restaurants in the Wynn Las Vegas, Nick and Sam's Steakhouse in Dallas, the MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas, Bazaar Meat by Jos Andrs in Las Vegas, the three-location Alexander's Steakhouse, 212 Steakhouse in New York City, and Teppanyaki Ginza Onodera in Honolulu. (The first Canadian restaurant to receive Kobe certification, Park in Montreal, did so earlier this year.)
