I was looking for a pennywise pic to compare Tim Curry's and this new one then I saw that Tim had a stroke back in 2012-13. Now I'm sad...

I think this is one of the few cases, where a remake makes sense.

The original movie was quite low budget and I heard it did not follow the book(which I admittedly haven't read). Making a new one does not seem like a totally retarded idea.
There is also the fact that unlike with action movies, you could not just make your own movie about killer clowns without drawing comparisons no matter how different.

definitely suggest everyone reads the book. it starts out with the boat scene and flips back and forth between adulthood and childhood (summer of '58) for the kids AKA the losers club. the story of their friendship and the character development with their own backstories and sections of the book is a fuucking masterpiece. definitely look into it for summer beach days/pool days.

I wouldn't recommend it as a good book to read on the can, no. it's one of those books that is structured in a way that makes you want to finish each chapter as you begin because they tell a separate story (such as how each kid grew up or their adult lives, etc.) and each chapter builds a certain amount of momentum that you'll want to complete before putting it down or moving on. the chapters are not terrible long, though.

Was going to say "stop ruining my childhood"... that movie was one of the most influential horrors when I was young.

That being said, looks great, good trailer too.

obv no gangbang scene lol, but if bill doesnt even stutter then it's just an inauthentic rip off. cool to see what appears to be the leper house in the trailer though, that was a huge part of the story. I doubt they all get high together as well.
What gangbang? I've never read the book so please aware me

That is how you do a fuking trailer!! Great buildup of tension and mix of subtle/jump scares. I got some "Sinister" vibes during the projector part.

I've never read the book.

I've seen a lot of people really praise it - I love horror but is it just a scary book or is there more to it than just a good horror story?

Re trailer: if this movie is all jump scares it's gonna suck.

I really enjoyed the book. The writing in between the horror scenes, the descriptive paragraphs and dialogue is so well done. The hook - horror in this case - almost became an afterthought for me. It could have been Irving or Roth, or a few others. So good.

Normally I dont feel quite that strongly about King, but this work was different.

Love that it looks like they're getting into the historical stuff from the book (fire at the Black Spot referenced in trailer), hope they do more.

Looks better than I expected, so may not skip it after all.

I got into trouble for reading this book at school. My 5th grade teacher pulled me out of class to ask if my parents knew I was reading it. She then called to verify they were indeed the ones who gave it to me, lol.
