Have you seen college lately ? Can you blame them for not wanting to pay an arm and a leg to only take feminist lit classes or get a degree in something like engineering only to end up working at Starbucks because there are no jobs in that particular field ? Degrees out of college now a days are meaningless because there aren't any jobs . I know people who have finished college with degrees and aren't even working in the field of study because there are no jobs .

No doubt your work ethic brought you where you are today. I followed a similar path, but I also recognize a tremendous amount of fortune helped me get where I am today. Not everyone has that same fortune.

Sure, some people are inherently lazy and will never seem to better themselves.

Some people desperately want to and work as hard as they can. Of these people, some will have the appropriate amount of luck and circumstance to make it out. Some won't. Does that mean we should give up and turn our backs on them?

Parents provide and the kids enjoy a comfortable life.
They're not rich but their costs are probably scaled down accordingly. At the end of the day someone is living off of someones hustle.

And to answer you, no we shouldn't turn our backs on them but it's also on them to not price themselves to high. Yes low paid jobs absolutely suck, but you have to start somewhere.

I was scrubbing toilets for almost a year at one point and getting paid peanuts, once payday came my rent and utilities would go out, food shopping (which was just eggs, whole-wheat bread and peanut butter, srs) diapers and baby formula, plus i had to pay my own travel to and from work, gym fees and also pay for my studying which i was doing on the side.

Life isn't fair, we all know this, but if you stay in moms basement crying everyday you can't get a job, one isn't gonna suddenly come banging on the door.

Employers like grafters.

Trust me. I know exactly what that's like. I had two jobs in high school and have worked ever since. The "fortune" you received was the fortune of not having traumatic things happen to derail your progress such as a parent developing a mental disease (Alzheimers etc), you experiencing a severe medical incident, your brother dying and you have to help support his children. Are they absolute impediments to success? No. But they are severe risks.

My point is that it's easy to characterize these kind of people as lazy and not having wanted to work, but that's not always the full picture.

Fair points that I didn't consider, one of the blessings of having no extended family is I don't have anyones issues to deal with apart from my own.

No one is stopping you from getting a farm, hunting and growing crops...That would require you to get out of your moms basement and that aint happening so your only defense is "it was better back then"...

As an old guy that grew up on a farm I can assure you it wasnt "better back then" and 99% of todays generation wouldnt last a day on a working farm or in a factory...The most laughable people are the ones that claim it was better back in the pre-civilized generation and that people only worked 4 hours a day...


You live in the greatest time in human history and you literally have to look for something to be miserable/complain about. You are "waking up" from a system that screwed you over while you misc on the INTERNET, have plenty to eat, nice clothes, car and have healthcare that most people would feel was "magic" just a few decades ago....ALL that provided from a system that "screwed you over" LOL....JUST LOL

The vast majority of millenials dont know what hunger, child abuse, child labor, disease, etc are. Ironic that you rail against the system that basically removed these issues from being prevalent and persistent in your life. If you want to see what it was like in the "old days" go buy a ticket to India, live as a commoner for a few years and report back. Lets see if you still complain about the "system"...You need to figure out what being truly hungry feels like without having a way to fill your stomach.

Reason #1 why i don't want to have kids, living in Vancouver, the average detached home costs 1.2 million. Average salary is 38,000/yr after tax. At a 15% downpayment, that's 180,000$

If you are making around 55k gross before tax (considered good for a uni grad in Vancouver), it will take you roughly 7 years of saving 100% of your income in order to afford the downpayment for a house.

Just lol at raising 2 kids in a 700 square feet apartment

My family is decently well-off but i want to be independent, it's a tough life for alot of vancouver millenials
