It's true I don't know for a fact it's something in their nature, but I do know for sure that a lot of people have had traumatic experiences and/or trouble with substance/alcohol abuse. Not a whole lot of those people go around shooting their dogs, filming it and posting it online.

Shes 23 and a US army veteran. Iraq war ended back in 2011. The heavy duty stuff was early 2003-2006.
What exactly did she do or have to face that caused PTSD? She was 17 by the time the war finished.
Too much convoy driving in boring sandy Afghanistan?
She probably didn't have PTSD and had some other mental disorder that slid under the radar and then used the PTSD excuse to discharge quickly and collect disability.

I am a cat man, so don't carry the same feels, though I do admit that doing this to a defenceless animal and taking pleasure is a sign of psychopathy at the very least.
Though not sure what the law is like in America, they might get some time in prison, they might get a suspended sentence, who knows.

Perhaps she had PTSD/perhaps she didn't there are different severities/and PTSD can sometimes present in people similar to a personality disorder like BPD. They can both be hard to distinguish actually and are commonly misdiagnosed. Some people can even be diagnosed with both.She could have had BPD before she went in the military, some people with that are high functioning and it might not be picked up during traininng. Not everyone with PTSD or any mental illness is a decent person, she could have been a evil cnut without the disorder or with, it doesn't matter. Substance abuse, drink/drugs is commonly linked with PTSD, if her and her boyfriend were doing that as well, well that could have made her more fuked in the head.
But I will say this, nothing annoys me more, as someone who has PTSD, and a mixed personality disorder, when someone uses their illness as an excuse for their actions, or at least their lawyers do. If she was in a relationship ,maintaining one, she cannot have been that sick. People who are severely mentally ill,do not leave their homes, and find it very difficult to be in relationships. If she was really that sick the dude she was with would have headed for the hills,I mean just look at him... do you think he would stick around if she was bat**** crazy? . Very few people whatever their diagnosis are actually 'insane'. Notice how schizophrenics when they go off and kill people, they always seems to pick on women and old ladies?
Sometimes mental illness can affect someones mind to the extent they lose some capacity, but in my view very few are so sick they have no concept of what they are doing so need to get punished less or not at all , and in those cases many are taking drugs to get to that point and then you have to think it was their choice to take those drugs and get drunk,knowing they had an illness and how it might affect them to take said substances.
