get older srs
used to stay up as late as possible and wake up as late as possible.
from about 27 years old i had a transitional phase where I could sleep a little earlier and wake up just early enough to wolf down some breakfast
when i turned 30 a switch flipped and now i wake up 2+ hours before leaving for work. feels great.

if you get the exact right amount of sleep you will feel good in the morning. REM cycles every 1.5hrs approximately. So you decide when you want to get up and make sure you go to bed so you get 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 hrs of sleep and you'll feel good (srs)

This way, you get up, turn off alarm, and smash down the energy drink to be energised to start the day. Do this 2-3 days in a row, and you'll suddenly be used to getting up early
Then, you can ditch the energy drink and get up normally... with perhaps a coffee after.Positive Crew

Start going to bed earlier, srs. Even if you're just lying there for a few hours you'll eventually form a habit and eventually get to sleep at 10 every night.
Alternatively, pull an all nighter, go to bed at 7, and wake up 10 hours later.

what are you waking up for?
as someone who used to be exactly like you OP all I can say is it's about routine and motivation. I used to organise my classes based on whatever would give me the biggest sleep ins cause i knew waking up early wasn't an option. now i naturally wake up before 9am on weekends, i rarely snooze my alarms, and i haven't missed anything due to sleeping in for years.
i HATED waking up early for school, then for uni, then for whatever else. became a night owl, would stay up late, then dread having to wake up. would just skip classes basically because i could. then it becomes a routine that's hard to get out of. plus i actually started to enjoy just laying around in bed for hours in the morning. which then usually leads to staying up later that night. it's a vicious cycle.
i don't exactly know how or why i broke the cycle but i'd bet that half of your problem is that you don't want to do whatever it is you have to do in the mornings. so not only is it hard to wake up cause it's tough, but also because you associate it with having to go and endure pain/boredom/whatever else.
i realised that if it were up to me (class I could skip, meeting that could be postponed, date that could be rescheduled) that my half asleep state would always, ALWAYS make me sleep more. but if it weren't up to me (flights to catch, job where being late = fired, etc.) then I could somehow manage to make myself do it. so i think the key is finding something that you MUST wake up for, preferably something that you enjoy.
i luckily found a 3 day a week job that i loved. being late wasn't an option. i'd get there and enjoy it and wake up the next morning ready to go. then i started setting the alarm a bit earlier so i could have a more cruisey breakfast and shower. put me in an even better mood. got tired earlier and could sleep earlier. then it just becomes routine. once i'd done it for a couple of months the new cycle was set. feels good waking up on the weekend naturally, feeling refreshed, lounge around on my phone for a bit, and it's only 9am. feel like i get more from my days.
gl to you. i struggled with it for years. find a reason to be up early 3+ days a week, a reason that you're happy about and that you can't miss, and i think naturally you'll see things improve.

have something to wake up for, only reason you stay in bed extra is cause you think your immortal. If you knew your time was limited and believed it you would be jumping out of bed. Thing is your ego thinks you can't die and that you will live a long life. There is no 100% chance of this but your arrogance demands it. So until you understand this and let your ego go and realize your a mortality you will continue to snooze cause why not you don't think you can die.
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.

Because I don't want to get fired. That is pretty much it, otherwise I wouldn't wake up until noon every day.

Over the last couple years I've trained myself to operate on less sleep. I rarely ever set an alarm, but I am able to function reasonably well on 4-5 hours of sleep. Used to be a total mess if I got under 7.
Combination of melatonin and exercise.

I feel ridiculously better if I wake up early and go to the gym prior to work. After a few weeks, your body gets used to it and you naturally start to wake up even before the alarm goes off.

If you make a habit of it, you'll start getting used to it and it will get easier. Eventually you will find yourself waking up before your alarm.
But the trick that helped me with getting up for morning workouts was setting an extra alarm and putting it someplace where I had to get out of bed to turn it off. Even if I turned my main alarm off, that second one would go off. Once I was out of bed, I might as well get dressed and hit the gym. Just need a loud alarm that doesn't turn off on its own.

unless you are a simpleton this is almost impossible, inb4 negs but it is the truth
military is the only thing that can fix this, just by sheer force
highly intelligent people tend to have problems with maintaining their sleep schedules - i build a career literally around my phucking sleep schedule, worked out great for me might not for you though
i had some sleep tests done and figured out that i can only fall asleep after 20 hours of being awake, hence why i never wake up at the same time, unless you are just some lazy ******* (i work 12-14 hours a day, if i had a good night of sleep) you might suffer from a delayed sleep cycle like me

Just make it a routine. Imagine if you had a job you had to be @ 5am every morning. You wouldn't think about it, no matter what, you would be there at 5am. Make it a routine, establish a habit, even if you don't WANT to, you don't make it a choice, you just do it.

i HATED waking up early for school, then for uni, then for whatever else. became a night owl, would stay up late, then dread having to wake up. would just skip classes basically because i could. then it becomes a routine that's hard to get out of. plus i actually started to enjoy just laying around in bed for hours in the morning. which then usually leads to staying up later that night. it's a vicious cycle.
i don't exactly know how or why i broke the cycle but i'd bet that half of your problem is that you don't want to do whatever it is you have to do in the mornings. so not only is it hard to wake up cause it's tough, but also because you associate it with having to go and endure pain/boredom/whatever else.
i realised that if it were up to me (class I could skip, meeting that could be postponed, date that could be rescheduled) that my half asleep state would always, ALWAYS make me sleep more. but if it weren't up to me (flights to catch, job where being late = fired, etc.) then I could somehow manage to make myself do it. so i think the key is finding something that you MUST wake up for, preferably something that you enjoy.
i luckily found a 3 day a week job that i loved. being late wasn't an option. i'd get there and enjoy it and wake up the next morning ready to go. then i started setting the alarm a bit earlier so i could have a more cruisey breakfast and shower. put me in an even better mood. got tired earlier and could sleep earlier. then it just becomes routine. once i'd done it for a couple of months the new cycle was set. feels good waking up on the weekend naturally, feeling refreshed, lounge around on my phone for a bit, and it's only 9am. feel like i get more from my days.
gl to you. i struggled with it for years. find a reason to be up early 3+ days a week, a reason that you're happy about and that you can't miss, and i think naturally you'll see things improve.

though maybe thinking of it as wasted time will help

highly intelligent people tend to have problems with maintaining their sleep schedules - i build a career literally around my phucking sleep schedule, worked out great for me might not for you though
i had some sleep tests done and figured out that i can only fall asleep after 20 hours of being awake, hence why i never wake up at the same time, unless you are just some lazy ******* (i work 12-14 hours a day, if i had a good night of sleep) you might suffer from a delayed sleep cycle like me
