Can't tell much from vids like this but we know the results of even what a short time off can do to a fighter. Floyd took a long time off. Did he train at all?

I remember watching a show that had him on it where his people talked about how the day after a fight he would be back in the gym, training for the next one. He talked a lot of trash, but never let his ego get in the way of his training. Now, how active was he after his retirement? Was he like one of those old men who just keeps doing what they know, or did he totally walk away from it?

Mike Tyson slacked on his training because the told him Douglas was a nobody and it was just a fight for the fans in Japan. We know what happened there. When he got out of prison, he trained hard, but never could get what he had back. Of course that was 3 years off but still, he never recovered.

To be fair, Tyson was always a head case, and like you said, he was always a shadow of his former self after his stint in prison.

It's true that all great fighters eventually lose to up and coming young guns if they stay in the game long enough. But such losses almost always come against future champions. McGregor wouldn't even make it to the top 50 in his weight class as a boxer.

He knew what he was doing... In the sense that he was Only fighting people he knew he could use his patented gimmicks on; people with low fight IQ and no KO power. The ones that did have it he made them wait (Manny) years till they got slower and older. Or he fought Canelo before he got experience when he was still a young low IQ fighter out of Mexico (he would murder him if they fought today) and so on and so forth.

But this time there are way too many doors open.

He is counting on the highest IQ fighter in that weight class in the history of combat sports, banking on and hoping that he doesn't figure out the cracks in his old weary armor.

So many doors open:

years of footage to study
weak power, no threat of being hit
slower mind body connection to do his evasive moves as long
smaller body
sporty body against warrior body (unlike other factory trained stock boxers)
element of mystery and surprise
false confidence in mayweather (champions ego dealing with mortality)

So many openings lol at the casual cucks

It's going to be beyond embarrassing if a guy so out of his prime manages to beat McGregor.

Dad bod Mayweather embarasses prime Mcgregor any day of the week any place on earth.

Mcgregor doesn't have 1/5th of the talent and athleticism Mayweather has

this is what Mcgregor is going to look like when he's 40 years old

That's not a dad bod. You can clearly see his muscles and bulk even if his body fat percentage might be a bit higher. But he has two months of training still.

I'd call it a boxer going through training. I mentioned his body fat percentage, but at the same time he's still training. A dad bod is an entirely untrained body. Just flab and fat for the most part.

Why are you guys hugging on his nuts so hard

Don't get me wrong I have made a lot of money off Floyd in the past.

But now it's a new day and things are different I'm just being a realist.

Why does everyone keep acting like Prime era Floyd is the same as current era Floyd and keep referencing his past actions as an indicator of what will happen to MacGregor

People are overly mono focused on ONE aspect: that boxing skill level/art is super high level.

HERP DERP ok we get the logic but there are numerous factors at play here some of which I stated above.

Yes we get that they are different sports but its JUST ONE FIGHT

Conor isn't making a deep boxing career run with variety of players and contenders and style matchups.

ITS JUST ONE FIGHT one matchup. One puzzle, one time.

Its not a fuking boxing career. And its not fuking young Floyd.

All the fuking facts of reality are there all going against that one concept of boxing being deep.

Its like ppl are stuck with their brain on one element like a broken record.

Am I the only one who considers other layers to this matchup.

To what degree is Conor bigger and faster vs to what degree is Boxing more complex than striking?

Do you guys see how ridiculous it is to consider these variables as black and white absolutes?

There is no measure or precedent for this sfuff.

Anything can happen, thats why they are fighting, to find out this question. Stop acting like you can predict the affects of aging on Floyd without having seen him fight lately.

Not even Floyd knows the answer to this question. And Conor is a predator waiting to strike without a doubt in his mind.

If Floyd can do it, and stay elite at 40, more power to him, I will be impressed.

But the pressure is on Floyd to overcome HIS insurmountable odds, to beat mortality and win the way he should, vs all Conor has to do is study hours of footage and solve a simple puzzle. (with the difficulty level greatly decreased compared to before)

People logic saying Floyd is so good at such a high skill as is boxing depth, that even a reduced version of that depth is better than a new person entering that depth.

But this is illogical. Its not a degradation, its an all or nothing paradigm because speed is the main element in Floyds technique working and not working, on or off, 1 or 0, dodge the punch or its night night.

There is no 80% to this chit.

Once you age, your speed and reaction is first to go.

Speed is 100% of Floyd defense so if he lost speed, he lost all of his defense (and has no real offense if no defense)

you are so fckin stupid. I see you on these Floyd vs Connor threads all the time saying the dumbest **** I wonder if you have some type of autism.

Why do you keep mentioning one puzzle one time? Do you really think studying film helps? Floyd has always said he never watches or studies him. Film doesn't help you in the ring.

Floyd can fight COnnor any way he wants and there's nothing Connor can do to stop FLoyd.

conor dosn't even have the cardio to go a couple rounds. he'll probably be gassed in the first or second round if floyd dosn't ko him from eating so many counter punches.

Where the fuk would anyone even reference such a thing from?

Nobody has any idea what he would do in a boxing match and how different he would be. He hasn't fought in a boxing rule set!!??!!??

All we fuking have to go by is that he is a fuking prodigy of stand up fighting in MMA are you mentally disabled or something?

Where the fuk are you getting this information from??? Do you not have eyes to see based on what he did to people in MMA? Like what is wrong with you???

He talked a lot of trash, but never let his ego get in the way of his training. Now, how active was he after his retirement? Was he like one of those old men who just keeps doing what they know, or did he totally walk away from it?

Mike Tyson slacked on his training because the told him Douglas was a nobody and it was just a fight for the fans in Japan. We know what happened there. When he got out of prison, he trained hard, but never could get what he had back. Of course that was 3 years off but still, he never recovered.
I'm pretty sure Mike falling off had more to do with losing his mentor Cus D'Amato than anything else
