That's me. Don't get me wrong, people older than me don't play anymore...or are hit and miss. But my age and lower...games are a part of us. Its easy to "grow out" of video games back when they sucked. But c'mon, they are ridiculously good and complex now. I've got no problem with someone who spends all his time accomplishing chit and interacting with people all day to judge my video game habits. But LOL at the average person who judges gamers while sitting in front of the same TV vegg'd the fuk out mind numbingly watching fictional chit someone else created. A gamer is actively creating their own reality, its much more interactive and interesting then just staring at a TV show.

Good point. Not to forget, these days gaming comes with online live communication. Made plenty of gaming friends over time. Fun playing and audio chatting at the same time.

Just LOL @ "waste of time"

The truth is EVERYTHING is a waste of time in the grand scheme of life, but for some strange reason a lot of people still cling to this out-dated belief that adults are "supposed" to do this or that. Not sure where this idea of video games somehow being an "inferior" form of entertainment comes from, must come from the older generations/post-40 crowd that are quite frankly out-of-touch with modern gaming (a huuuuuge industry in 2017).

So video games are "a waste of time".... but the things "normal" adults are "allowed to" or "supposed to" indulge in such as mindless ********/social media gossip (most "adults" glued to their phones doing this it seems), binging Netflix, watching TV, watching football, buying overpriced alcohol at bars, doing drugs, etc are not?

A lot of people in 2017 are apparently still brainwashed/ruled by "peer pressure" rather than think for themselves or simply do what they enjoy (not what they're "supposed" to do). Not sure what it is, it seems the societal/corporate wagecuck style programming runs deeper than first thought.

I'm trying to figure out what leisure activities these people take part in. For the miscers that actually lift, I'd say you're probably more active than just about 99% of the population. If you spend your remaining time gaming, I'm not sure where someone else has a stance to judge you.

It makes me laugh when people claim that others are too old for games and are childish for liking them (even though a lot of them are 18+) yet will waste their time at a bar for hours on end drinking their life away, watching TV or be utterly obsessed with their local football team. Yeah, I read a lot of sci-fi, horror. But to my parents that's just a waste of time. Basically to them doing anything other than cook, clean, tend to my kid and husband is a waste.

I do.
Some guys like playing guitar etc. Or sports, or movies bikes cars or whatever other hobby. Video games would just take the place of one of those for them guys.

It's 2017 it's not even a big deal anymore. Games are marketed to a 30+ male demographic too these days.

While I agree reading is good, I gotta say computer games are a lot more mentally engaging on the whole.

Obviously depending on what type of game you're playing.

29, 1st year as a stay at home, worked for 11yrs, managed to do all my chores, cook all the meals & snacks, tend to my kid and teach him chit, lift 3x a week, go out occasionally, mostly because kid. Still game, read books, comics, manga and play chess. You don't have to be a full blown FA weaboo, you can still have a social life.
