I tend to look at how athletes' performance decline over time. In soccer and MMA, their peak in fitness and performance is around 28. I heard that Powerlifters are at their best in their early 30's.

I'm 35 and I am in better shape than I was a decade ago... My hormones are "optimized"

You don't have to decline. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY....

However I will note diet matters now more than it ever has.

32. Started having kids, quit working out. Sucked until I turned 45.

Started lifting/working out. Lost 20 lbs and gained more motivation than I've had in 25 years... currently 49 and feel as good as I did a few years before I had kids.

You gotta work harder and eat better the older you get. Stay motivated.

25 was my best year bar none . I noticed things never felt quite the same after that .
30's we're not bad , but early forties were noticeably on the downhill , but liveable.
50's are just plain sucking . Never felt so my arthritis and other issues .
Working out is not the same . I used to feel pretty good and tight after working out , even in my mid 40's , of course nothing like in my 20's though.
But 50's just plain suck arse . More tendinitis than anything.
I'm hoping to just roll over

I'm 40 and my performance in endurance sports (cycling and running) is still increasing. My overall strength has declined since 35, but I am also considerably leaner now than I was then. I consider myself more fit at this age (and still improving) than ever before. I am also more disciplined than ever.

As a mid-30's brah, I like the positivity in here but feel like some are painting a rosier picture than reality.

If you were out of shape in your 20's but now actually workout/lift, it doesn't count because it's not a fair comparison. Of course you will feel better now.
Lastly, strength/power is the last thing to "go" as you age. This is why dudes can keep getting stronger late into 30's and even 40's. So that on its own is not the greatest indicator.

All that being said, some guys can stretch their peak longer than others and delay the decline. It depends on many factors.
I started noticing the decline in my late 20's. Recovery time, injuries, agility, speed, energy, etc. started to go.

Until you get around late 30s, you start declining b/c of injuries and wear and tear. That's why so many athletes are done 25-30.

Or looking at track stars, you see many hitting their records in their early to mid 20s. Usain Bolt hit many of his records at around 23-24
No chit they start training @ like 5 and competing at like 12. Their bodies are wrecked by 27-28

I don't think you'll feel a marked 'decline' for a long time, but you will notice that injuries tend to linger and not really heal 100% ever. At least I have over the past few years (turn 31 next week).

That must be why bodybuilders, powerlifters, strongmen, olympic lifters, etc. all have to retire by 30. Because its all down-hill from there....

Here's the deal. As you age, test. starts to decrease. You have a busier schedule so you feel tired more often/less energy. You're probably not eating as good as you should be. You probably have been abusing some form of drug (Whether its a stimulant like caffeine or a depressant like alcohol) for an extended period of time and its only growing larger. You have increased responsibilities and stress. Your body starts to heal a bit slower. Etc.

Does that mean its doom and gloom after 25? Not at all. There are plenty of work-arounds for all of those. Furthermore, assuming you take the right steps a man's physical peak is usually in his 30s. Which is why people in the above sports ^ are at the top of their game in their mid 30s. Yes, athletes that are doing some kind of sport that requires explosiveness/fast reflexes notice a drop as he ages. However an athlete that does an endurance or strength sport will notice an increase as he gets older.

I'm 30 and I'm literally in the best shape of my life. I know a few guys in their 40s and 50s with amazing physiques that are lean AF. And yeah, they are usually on TRT. As I will be when I get older and my doctor clears me for that. For now I find cycling natural test./libido support herbs are extremely effective, though not necessary.

I also know a few guys in their 40s-60's that are in good shape that have never been prescribed TRT. They've just taken steps to stay in shape and exercise for their entire life. They don't have some kind of show-stopping physique but their are easily in the top 5% of their age group just because they made an effort to be healthy.

Its a choice to 'let yourself go' as you age. Born out of laziness and ignorance.

I'd say this is my experience as well. Though I was a lazy kunt in my 20s, probably my biggest regret.

What I have noticed is that as I get older, I have less tolerance for things. I'm more of a DIYer than the average Joe but as I get older I feel like I'll be more selective at what projects I take on. Though when my son gets older I think I'll ramp it back up to make sure he gets a dose of reality.

On the flip side, I feel like a slob if I don't train regularly. Even if I'm feeling off I still make sure I get some physical activity in for the same of doing it and feeling productive.

Edit: I did notice a point around age 33 where my metabolism changed. I can still put down a big meal but not without feeling like chit and/or not being able to eat as much. Which if I listened to my body now more, I could lose those stereotypical "last few pounds. "

I'm 27 and eat much better now than I ever did before, and do more recovery work now than I ever did before. I'm as strong as I've ever been and don't see any of my training numbers slowing down anytime soon. I can still sprint and jump with pretty good explosiveness.

However, I do have to pick my battles now and don't recovery nearly as quickly as I used to. Squat too frequently, and my knees feel it. Deadlift too frequently, and my back feels it. Press too frequently, and my shoulders feel it. I definitely have to do more corrective work and take a once-a-month deload week or I'll get injured.

Turned 32 yesterday. Hurt my back the first time when i was 29. Before that i was an ironman/superhero. Have had back problems ever since. Dislocated my knee this january. And its just legit unstable now. Been having anxiety/panic attacks for almost a year.

So at 29 my life as an athlete was gone forever. And its been declining ever since. I think if youre able to stay healthy you can maintain til mid to upper 30s

I'm only 25 , but I used to skateboard every day after school in highschool for like 3 hours , at 20 I realised I couldn't keep up the pace , started to hurt more when I came off haha .

I'm stronger than I've ever been , but just started running after having never really bothered with cardio , makes me feel old as **** lol

All this cope is making me cringe. I'm 37. I feel 37. It's downhill after your early 20s. The steepness is different for everyone, but you ARE going downhill.

I noticed it around 25-28 years old. Not too bad, but if I sprained an ankle or tweaked my back, it wasn't better by morning.
I don't neg.

This. About 32 for me. First time I woke up with random aches and pains that weren't from sports or lifting.

Hangovers also lasted twice as long from that point on.
