Let me slim down op's post: Get good at talking to people because it can help in many ways including dating.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

That's pretty good. I've written a couple of books- Maybe in this age of social media you can slim them down to 140 characters for me so I can sell them on iTunes for .99?

We can definitely agree on those things.

I live in the south, so it's not so much like that here (at least not my part), but I can see that happening through TV and social media.

Age: 37... old guy lol ok den

But I agree with everything you said. The generation slightly younger than me got fuked pretty hard in the social experiment that is online dating. I remember calling girls' house phones in high school, next thing you know every single person has a cell phone when I started college in 2004.

People are going to adapt in some shape or form but it's pretty retarded of anyone to claim they have already fully adapted. Just being successful in online dating doesn't mean you've considered the long term affects of clicking through 1000s of profiles incessantly since you were 18.

I personally don't care tbh. I've never been marriage minded (although the current GF is as close to a keeper as I've had) nor do I want kids. I don't even really believe the family unit is going to survive the next 100 years for reasons much more complicated than online dating. Looking forward to kicking back for the next 30 years and watch it all unfold. Going to be a fun ride.

And the issue is not like some of us bros don't want good girls. Like shoelaces and peterpls said, the quantity just isn't there.

Values, upbringing, past, personality, hell even etiquette. How much **** Cosmo, variety, and glamour has fed down their throats is insane.

I'll admit younger Bros have it worse than even we did (late 80s-early 90s vs 2000s) Have fun with that Kylie Jenner **** being an idol for all these young teens. L O L

This is true bruh. You can swipe through more profiles in one weekend than a lifetime of meeting women face to face before dating apps. Think about that for a second. Before the advent of social media and dating apps you would at most approach and meet a handful of dating prospects every month. That is with you actively approaching and talking to people you see in public. Now with your phone you can see thousands of people in your area at any time. Dating has become too automated and lost any kind of personal connection. Just look around the next time you are out at a bar or restaurant. Everyone is glued to their phones. No one even talks to each other anymore face to face.

By the way, I'm not saying people shouldn't find dates online.

Actually I think it's probably a pretty useful thing for people to meet a wider variety of people.

My criticism is more about the people here who go to skanky dating sites asking skanks for nudes and then wonder why all women are "sloots."

I would still argue that there are decent people out there (especially in the real world, but probably online, too), but too many people now don't realize it because of where they are looking.

Funny you bring that up because I have observed this trend and am almost always the instigator of conversation. Had a conversation about this topic at the airport on Thursday last week with the guy next to me. Every single person had their phones out while sipping on beer. Even I had my phone out as we were chatting. It's almost like everyone is in a trance and you have to snap them out of it.

Having said that, when you engage people they almost always respond. I think a lot of the issue with talking to girls I see from FA's here is they try to go for oneliners, pick up artist bs, "cold approach" methods, etc. Girls naturally put up defenses as soon as you start going down that road. I'm not chad and just talking to people has always worked for me. Keep in mind I live in LA which is supposed to be very superficial. It's a little absurd to me reading about all the FA and MGTOW stuff on misc tbh, I feel like some people live in a different reality than I do.

The gist of what you are saying has merit, but the quoted portion shows you are a bit out of touch. This may have held true a decade ago but not now. Females and males alike use sites like Tinder equally. The fact that you still believe the notion of women using social platforms online to be >50% male shows you are a bit prehistoric in your mindset. Sorry gramps!

If that's the consensus, I may have to re-adjust my thinking on that.

I must admit a lot of times it is hard to start a conversation because people are so fixated on their phones. If they just reply back with a single word while not even looking up from their phones it is an instant conversation killer. Noticed this more with young people. I am in my 30s and for the most part people my age still respond like actual humans because we all remember a time when face to face conversation was a normal thing. Kids today I noticed don't even know how to carry on a conversation. They will respond with simple answers and in turn won't ask questions themselves which kills the conversation before it even starts.

He hasn't been involved in the dating scene for 15 years. That is the equivalent of releasing a captive animal back into the wild. It won't last a single day.

I am older than OP and would never give advice on dating to 20 year olds. It is different now, I wouldn't have listened to my dad talk about what it was like dating in the 50's so why should guys listen to me talking about the good old 90's.

Young guys, go have fun, you're all going to make it.

That is a legit question and to be honest I would assume its an extreme form of "troll culture" taken too far as a result of mental illness or something, can't think of any other legit reason to catfish. But this is seen in both male and females. Maybe some people just really get a kick out of fukking with people, or maybe its more extreme and its like a coping mechanism for their own shtty life so its like a role play thing for them, who knows. Good question though

Just because you were too arrogant and dense to take advice from your old man doesn't mean everyone does the same. I think the OP did take his assumptions a couple of steps too far but there is absolutely no problem with giving and receiving advice at any age.

I wish more older men were open to giving advice to young men instead of chitting on them. I also wish young guys listened more. It's partly genetic, being a man we're born with some of this macho bullchit, but as I'm got older I personally tried to get over it. You're 42 bro, I'm sure you can give some good advice to young people. Don't hold out on them just because some of it may fall on deaf ears.
