Men can be better at raising kids, OP. I'm pretty sure I read the majority of criminals and murderers have been raised by single mothers. Men tend to be stricter, command more respect, have more a sense of pride and honour than women (srs), and have the ability to not give a fuk if they're not their kids' friend so long as their kids succeed. I believe Maylie displayed beautifully why it isn't addressed in society - Women don't like admitting blame for anything unless someone else is more to blame.
